Episode 12 Recap

Today on Lorraine, Ranvir Singh was joined by Olympian Sir Steve Redgrave and actress Charlie Brooks ahead of their very first skating performances on Dancing on Ice this Sunday.

Also on today’s show was an exclusive interview with former Strictly star AJ Pritchard who spoke to Ranvir about his brother Curtis’ return to the Love Island Villa.

First up, and before their eagerly anticipated Dancing on Ice debuts this weekend, Charlie Brooks and Sir Steve Redgrave caught up with Ranvir.

Ranvir asked Sir Steve Redgrave: “We know that you are obviously a global phenomenon in rowing, you are our greatest Olympian, you must have that competitive edge? You’re not afraid of hard work, but how is this comparing?”

Sir Steve Redgrave replied: “A lot harder than I thought it was going to be, I thought it was going to be hard but it’s much, much harder. Such respect for all of the skaters whatever the discipline. I’ve done quite a lot of the winter sports over the years, British champion at four man bob (sleighing) and silver medalist at two man bob but we’ve done about sixty hours skating on the ice, and I’m still rubbish.”

Ranvir also reflected on actress Charlie’s accolades as she said: “Charlie is a winner, she has won the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, then you won in the Jungle [I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here] so you know how to win on these shows?”

Charlie replied: “My daughter will always say ‘im the only reason that you won that show’, and she’s probably right” as she reminisced on the cameos made by daughter Kiki out in Australia in 2012.

When asked by Ranvir how she’s coping with the skating, Charlie said: “I can honestly say I love it more than I ever thought I would love it. You hear people say that don’t you but it’s just been the most extraordinary journey. My partner Eric is just a wonderful human being and to step onto this adventure with him has been absolutely amazing.”

Charlie Brooks and Sir Steve Redgrave skate live in the second instalment of Dancing on Ice’s launch this Sunday at 6:30pm on ITV1.

Later on, Ranvir spoke with AJ Pritchard to hear his take on brother Curtis Pritchard’s return to screens in the new series of Love Island: All Stars.

Choosing to couple up with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu in last night’s episode, Ranvir asked: “AJ, has he made the right choice, do you think with Ekin-Su?”

AJ said: “He’s definitely made a choice, that’s for sure which we saw last night. He’s super honest with his emotions, he’s so open. I think Ekin is more intrigued about him because we kind of see a certain point on TV but it’s all those conversations that happen behind the scenes. There’s a bit more behind him, he’s not just all muscles, he does actually have something a bit more intriguing there.”

Talking about the chemistry seen on screen in last night’s show, Ranvir added: “Although there’s been a lot of physical passion, let's be honest, I know we like to think Curtis is nice and deep but he is also fancying her.”

When asked about Curtis connection with other Love Island: All Stars contestant Kaz Crossley, AJ said: “They looked so happy and she made him nervous but we heard last night that he’s still intrigued by Ekin who still keeps him on his toes so I think it’s a good decision and I’m intrigued to see where it’s going to go.”

AJ and Ranvir went on to discuss Curtis’ previous dating history and whether or not he’s ever been in love to which AJ said: “I think maybe once he was in love and it didn’t work out unfortunately so I do hope that he finds somebody.”

Love Island: All Stars continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
