Dust off your dancing shoes, Strictly Come Dancing is waltzing back onto BBC One for its 16th series.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are rolling out the red carpet to welcome the star-studded celebrity class of 2018 as they begin their Strictly adventure in Strictly Come Dancing: The Launch.

Tonight the 15 celebrity contestants will make their grand entrance into the famous Strictly ballroom and discover which professional dancer they will be paired with. Once the pairings have been announced the celebrities and professionals will take to the dancefloor for the very first time for a spectacular group performance.

Get ready to start dancing! Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman present the first live episode of this year's spectacular series. The celebrities have had two weeks to rehearse their first routine and tonight the 15 couples perform live. They're dancing to impress the viewers and our fabulous four judges, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and head judge Shirley Ballas. The judges will score each couple but no-one leaves this week. Instead their scores will be carried over to next week when the viewers get the chance to vote for their favourite couple. It will be a show packed with entertainment and drama with plenty of first-night nerves - the quest for glitterball glory has begun!

It's the second live show and tonight viewers get their first chance to vote for their favourite couple. All 15 couples have had just a week to learn and perfect their second dance. The stakes are raised as each couple needs to impress the judges, and their scores from week one will be added to tonight's scores to give us our first leader board. Who will impress the judges and who will impress the viewers at home? No-one wants to be the first couple to leave Strictly 2018.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman return to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom as the battle to lift the Glitterball Trophy continues. The twelve remaining couples take to the floor in a bid to impress the judges. As the competition reaches its fifth week, the judges will be looking for the couples to really show what they are capable of. After the judges have given their scores, the public have the chance to cast their votes. The two couples with the lowest combined judges' scores and viewer votes face the dreaded dance-off on the results show. Bruno isn't on the panel this time, but sitting in is guest judge Alfonso Ribeiro, winner of Dancing with the Stars in the US and one of the stars of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Then it is down to business as the bottom two dancing duos take to the famous ballroom floor to dance for survival. Which couple will the judges save, and who will leave the competition? It is the spookiest event in the Strictly Come Dancing calendar as this year's Halloween special sees the return of spiders, witches, broomsticks and ghosts to the Strictly ballroom. If the celebrities thought the dance floor was scary before, they're in for an even bigger fright tonight. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman present what promises to be a spine-tingling show, and the remaining 11 couples enter into the spirit of Halloween. Deciding who has cast the best spell of the evening are judges Shirley Ballas, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood.

Ballroom bigwigs Shirley Ballas, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood have cast their votes, which have been added to the viewers' votes, and now the two couples with the lowest combined votes face each other in the dance-off. Then it is down to the judges to cast their spells and decide who stays and which couple will leave the competition for good. The special musical performance comes from Rita Ora, and the judges sit down with Claudia once again for a dance debrief of Saturday night's performances.

The show opens with a very special group performance from the professional dancers as they pay tribute to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. The fabulous four - Shirley, Darcey, Bruno and Craig - then have the difficult task of deciding who will jive into next week and who will quickstep out of the competition for good. There is a musical performance from Jess Glynne, and the judges once again put the routines from the night before under the microscope.

The gentlemen set to rock around the Christmas tree are Aston Merrygold (series 15), Jake Wood (series 12) and Michael Vaughan (series 10). The theme for this year's festive extravaganza is fairy tales and making dreams come true. Each of the six couples will perform a Christmas inspired routine in a bid to be crowned Christmas champions 2018.
