Each week, hosts Joey Fatone and Mel B surprise an office, hold an impromptu audition - in front of their co-workers - to create a team of the five best singers, and help them prepare for their time in the spotlight. Then, it's off to the stage for a choreographed sing-off to earn a spot in the finale and a chance to win $50,000. No office is safe this summer!

I was a cast member on this episode. I sang wother the electronics company (Westinghouse Digital) v. the Grocery company (Stater Bros., IIRC). We sang “Taking Care of Business“ by BTO; they got James Brown’s “Living in America.” They won the round, at which point I quit Westinghouse Digital and went to work for the USPS the next day.
There’s an episode of The Simpsons that this kinda mirrors, btw. I think it’s called “Lisa Gets a Horse.” BTO sings “Taking Care of Business,” and Lisa’s band does “Living in America“ (but in the Singing Office, the grocery store folks wave tiny American flags, which I think should be against the rules), while they sing “Living in America).”
