Europe is suffering from an energy crisis and when Norway's new Green prime minister Jesper Berg calls a press conference to announce that he is stopping all fossil fuel production. The EU calls on Russia to invade.

Jesper Berg assures journalist Thomas Eriksen that the Russian presence is by no means an occupation. During a medal ceremony at Akershus Fortress May 17 a young guardsman attempts to shoot the Russian ambassador.

The prime minister is under pressure from Eriksen. He wants the prime minister to come with a specific date for the Russian withdrawal from Norway. Berg yields to pressure and ask the Russians about a date. The Russians, however, have one condition.

A Norwegian resistance movement that calls itself Free Norway gives the impression of wanting to use all means to get the Russians out of the country. They contact Eriksen, and demands that he writes beneficial about them - otherwise his wife's Russian friendly restaurant will be the next target.

There are few days to the Russians will pull out, and the preparations for them to leave the country takes place at all levels. Prime Minister Jesper Berg making plans for how to get the party up and running again, but has major challenges on several levels.

Norway has managed to repair the gas lines after bomb on Viksund, but the EU believes that the political landscape is too uncertain for the Russian withdrawal now. Prime Minister Berg must make a difficult decision - contrary to his own ideological convictions.

Jesper Berg has won the referendum, but the Russian shows no signs of leaving the country. On the contrary, they have increased their military activity. The prime minister now expects the EU sets up military action to get the Russians out, but EU are reluctant to enter into a military conflict with Russia.

Jesper Berg understands that he is not going anywhere with the EU, and initiate police action to get the Russians out of the country. The Russian ambassador, Sidorova, warns him against continuing to expel Russians, but Jesper Berg does not care about her warnings.

Jesper Berg continues as the country's prime minister from within the US Embassy, but the Americans are not particularly thrilled about Jesper Berg's politics and offers him a ticket to Switzerland.

In an interview with an American news channel Jesper Berg claims that the Americans is supporting the Norwegian side of the conflict. This is the opposite of what Americans asked for and they get Jesper Berg removed from the embassy.

Half a year has passed since Free Norway mobilised itself and the country was on the brink of war. In order to maintain peace, the Norwegian government has had to compromise with the Russians.

Russia has arrested the Coast Guard soldiers who were behind the action at Melkøya, Anita Rygg has promised that they will be handed over to Norway, but when one of the soldiers is dead, it becomes more problematic.

The Coast Guard soldiers are sentenced to one of the most severe punishments available. Meanwhile, terrorism continues and Anita wants to negotiate an amnesty with Free Norway to calm the people.

The group holding Jesper is willing to sell him to the Norwegian authorities, but when they find out that the Russians are behind the agreement, they order his death.

Jesper has managed to get to Paris and to Astrid and her partner Jerome, but it doesn't take long for the police to find and arrest him. Jerome then comes to the rescue.

The Nordic nations are unhappy and feel insecure about the Russian presence in Norway. Anita struggles to foster a better climate between the countries.

It seems that there may be a majority in the EU in favour of a resolution to force Russia out of Norway, but for the EU to vote for the resolution, the Government of Norway must support it.

The EU interprets the deployment of the Finnish aircraft as an attack on the EU and votes on a resolution for Russia to exit Norway. They also want Anita to stand down.

The occupation is over and Jesper Berg is tasked with forming a temporary government. The EU is pushing Norway to resume oil and gas production, but after an explosion, Jesper makes drastic decisions.

Djupvik discovers that the new Defense Minister Harald Vold is behind Anita Rygh's murder. The EU is pushing Jesper, but he is being obstructive, and the attempts to replace the Russian software are sabotaged.

Sidorova does everything in her power to get her girlfriend out from Russia. Vold is trying to expose Jesper as a profiteer, and opposition to the Russians and everyone who is associated with them is increasing.

The #BrandThem hate campaign is escalating, and it becomes clear that Vold is involved. Jesper admits his feelings for Marie. Sidorova and Lyubov are embroiled in a Russian conspiracy that affects all of Europe.

Jesper is doing well in the election until rumours spread that he is responsible for Anita Rygh's murder. He agrees to meet Sobol, unaware that Sobol has promised the Russians that Petter Bjørnstad will win the election.

Bente's testimony leads the Supreme Court to recommend that Jesper be prosecuted, whereupon Jesper must decide whether he wants to give up or flee. HM discovers that Sidorova collects dangerous political information.
