Springwatch is back for an hour-long Easter special that showcases the best of British wildlife as it starts to emerge after an exceptional winter.

Presenters Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan are at Stackpole in west Wales appealing for volunteers to join the Springwatch Do Something Great campaign, designed to help our UK wildlife.

Whilst they join a voluntary beach clean, Martin Hughes-Games volunteers to join wardens from the Wildlife Trust as they open up the nearby island of Skomer, ready for summer visitors.

Week three of Springwatch kicks off with a smorgasbord of spring's seasonal best. Our live nests have been busy over the weekend, so Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan catch us up with all the comings and goings as well as checking in with them live on the programme.

Iolo Williams is on a seabird extravaganza, and where better to do it than on the islands around Mull. Megan McCubbin is on the last leg of her road trip across the north east of England, arriving in Newcastle city centre to showcase some of our urban wildlife.

Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan unpack the overnight drama from the key characters, while Iolo Williams stretches his legs further afield and goes in search of some of the heathland's resplendent inverts.

Gillian Burke continues her Snowdonia exploration and is out looking for Britain's only venomous snake, the adder.

There's also the 'swift man', an 81-year-old who has dedicated over a decade to building boxes for swifts. His current total is 64,000, and he shows no signs of stopping!

Iolo Williams sets himself a challenge as he sets sail into Poole Harbour, keen to see a white-tailed eagle or an osprey during the programme. Both enigmatic birds are recent additions to this part of the UK, so a sighting would be a memorable moment.

Gillian Burke travels further north within Snowdonia to meet a pine marten soon to be released into the wild.
