Situated in a water meadow in north Dorset, rare breed farmers Liam and Hannah's 1930s shepherd's hut was bought for just £5 almost 40 years ago, but it's seen better days. Simon and the team help them to restore the rare hut and turn this originally humble dwelling into the perfect getaway.

Using mostly recycled materials foraged from the farm, Simon and carpenter Ian Tsang build a large field kitchen and dining space inspired by the design of the hut, while designers Verity Coleman and Sophie Dunn upcycle some of the many things self-confessed ‘womblers' Liam and Hannah have accumulated over the years.

A visit to Woodman's Wagon Treehouse set in eight acres of ancient woodland in Devon brings lots of inspiration – the handcrafted interior is built from recycled materials and upcycled furniture, and the outdoor shower gives Liam an idea for his own outdoor bathroom.

Simon and the team go to Devon where camp site owner Faith wants to create a unique property using an invention of her late father's.

Faith wants the B&B's rooms to have a celestial theme, and Simon and the team create some bespoke furnishing. Carpenter Ian Tsang creates a headboard based on the lunar cycle, designers Zoe Hewett and Sophie Dunn have some earth-based inspiration, and Simon creates a kitchen that mirrors the dome shape of the property.

Inspiration comes from a visit to a nearby B&B, The Woodland Retreat, which is built by artist Julie entirely from recycled materials.

When 17-year-old Ruben told his parents, Helen and Tim, that he wanted to build a mud hut in their Oxfordshire garden as his A-level project, they had no idea how much work they would all have to put into it. Now they have run out of steam and have called in Simon and his team to help them carry on the project and turn Ruben's traditional cob hut into a source of income to finance his gap year travels.

Simon starts by ordering the demolition of dad Tim's attempt at a mezzanine and takes him and Ruben to the traditionally built Courtfield Thatched Roundhouse in Milton in Somerset. It's made from wattle and daub and built by Amada and thatcher Tom, and the visit fills Ruben with enthusiasm for traditional building techniques, and back in Oxfordshire, Simon teaches the whole family ‘green wood' techniques to build the new, improved mezzanine.

Carpenter Ian Tsang gets to grips with some special pieces of wood to create a dry kitchen and saves a log coffee table, whilst designers Verity Coleman and Sophie Dunn set about creating a warm and inviting interior with mum Helen, building some bespoke upcycled pallet furniture and a truly unique sign for the B&B.

The tiny two-floored building may look like a turret on the outside, but on the inside it's a bland office and storage space that couldn't be less regal. Simon enlists top carpenter Ian Tsang to create a panelled room that can be the backdrop for Simon's incredible upcycled medieval headboard, while designers Verity Coleman and Sophie Dunn create some very heraldic window dressings and reflect on ways of adding a slice of bling using gold leaf.

Inspiration comes from a trip to The Conker, a spherical copper-coloured glamping pod in Newbridge-on-Wye in Wales, where owners Anjana and David have created the ultimate in luxury and relaxation for their guests.

In Monmouthshire, on the Bristol Channel, a 100-year-old lighthouse is the venue for Simon and his team's latest project. After running it as a B&B business for many years, Danielle and Frank have decided they now want their home back but don't want to give up the hospitality business completely. They want Simon's help to convert a disused building that formerly housed a floatation tank room, but on inspection, Simon deems it structurally unsound.

After a rebuild of the basic structure, Simon and the team return to create a Cape Cod-inspired room with stunning estuary views that will serve as a romantic honeymoon suite alongside Danielle and Frank's wedding business. Designers Verity Coleman and Sophie Dunn take inspiration from the driftwood washed up on the rocks around the lighthouse and create some original art, whilst top carpenter Ian Tsang clads the exterior to give it that East Coast feel. Simon creates a deck to make the most of the location and upcycles a marine lamp that nods to the building's former purpose.

Inspiration comes from a visit to The Stripy Bothy, also in Monmouthshire, with very different but stunning views and location. Owner Craig shows Danielle and Frank just how vintage furniture, some original artwork and crafts can create a unique B&B experience.

Simon and team go to Epsom Downs in Surrey to help turn a bow-top caravan into a romantic B&B that will be the focal point of Lynn and Mick's wedding business. Lynn has always wanted a bow-top caravan as she is the granddaughter of circus performers and believes it is in her blood. However, after buying one eight years ago, the restoration project failed to get off the ground - until now.

The team get to work creating an insulated and watertight traditional covering for the caravan roof, and a trip to an original Victorian train carriage that has been turned into a B&B in Bridport, Dorset, gives Lynn and Mick plenty of design inspiration.

Simon creates an outdoor kitchen inspired by the bow top itself, while top carpenter Ian Tsang is given the task of creating some beautifully crafted steps to create an entrance in keeping with the caravan design, and designers Zoe Hewett and Sophie Dunn employ some traditional Romany crafting in their interior design.

In this episode, Simon and his team visit Toby and his daughter Islay in Pembrokeshire, where Toby has already created some unusual spaces on his campsite, but needs help on his latest big idea of turning a sonar hull from a warship into a land-locked submarine.

Without a straight wall or a corner in sight, top carpenter Ian proves his skills at customising furniture for tricky spaces, while interiors queen Zoe takes on the challenge of injecting some warmth and personality into a grey subterranean space.

Simon has some creative ideas on how to make the space both playful and appealing to paying guests, and inspiration comes from a visit to The Hiveaway, a beehive-inspired B&B overlooking the Teifi Valley in West Wales. This curvy off-grid wooden cabin uses honeycomb design on the interiors, and almost everything has either been hand-built by owners Nick and Lauren or reclaimed.

In this episode, Simon and his team head to Taunton, in Somerset, on an enchanted journey to meet David, Sue and daughter Katie, a family obsessed with fairies and all things magical. They are looking to create an out-of-this-world B&B in a treehouse built in their back garden that will enable teacher Katie to spend time at home with her children.

The exterior may be truly enchanting, but the drab interior is in much need of Zoe Hewitt's design wand and the skills of top carpenter Ian Tsang, who is great at designing fantastical furniture. Simon has plans for a magical mezzanine in the boughs of the oak tree growing in the middle of the treehouse, and a very special way of delivering breakfast to the guests.

A visit to The Hobbit House in Northamptonshire provides Katie with inspiration, along with tips from owner Amanda on how to create a magical experience for her guests.

Will's family have been farming their land in Lincolnshire for generations. However, in order to generate some extra income, Will calls Simon to help create a unique agricultural-themed B&B - he wants to turn an old combine harvester into a quirky getaway that will appeal both to farm fans and those who like get away to somewhere out of the ordinary.

Turning a machine that weighs around 9,400 kilos into a compact but bijou place tests the design talents of Verity Coleman and Sophie Dunn, who can't even get into the space until Simon cuts a door. However, the discovery of a mountain of antique apple boxes gets their creative juices flowing. Top carpenter Ian Tsang must start from scratch to build the interior bed, seating and storage, but working in a totally enclosed metal box brings some new challenges.

A visit to The Woodland Boat in Norfolk, another unusual vehicular B&B, provides some inspiration. The 1965 Broads cruiser is firmly grounded on owners Charlie and Alice's stud farm, and shows Will that even a decommissioned boat can be reborn as a desirable place for people to stay.

In 2017, Nigel and Maria inherited a 400-year-old farm near Cullompton, in Devon, and want to give up their day jobs to spend as much time as they can on the farm with their family. They have asked Simon and his team to help the convert a 1970s showman's caravan into a one-of-a-kind place for people to come and stay.

Designers Zoe Hewitt and Sophie Dunn have a blast bringing the 1970s interior back to life, while top Carpenter Ian Tsang is unsure about the bright orange kitchen he is tasked with making, and Simon upcycles an old wardrobe to become a bar with a view.

A trip to The Bluebird Penthouse - a 1950s caravan with a Land Rover hot tub - gives Nigel and Maria lots of inspiration for their period-themed caravan, with its vintage interior and quirky touches, such as the wine cellar creatively hidden in the floor.

Simon is in Shropshire to help vintage vehicle-loving Bethan and John turn a 1940s railway goods carriage into a unique B&B located in their back garden.

Their love of things from the past is music to the ears of designers Verity Coleman and Sophie Dunn, who get creative with Bethan and John's treasure trove of vintage pieces. Sophie upcycles a metal cabinet for the bathroom, and Verity gets creative with Bethan and John's daughter, Seren, who has her own collection of pottery pieces found on the site. Top carpenter Ian Tsang gets to grips with another vintage vehicle and creates a full bathroom inside an old animal box. Simon upcycles the floor into an outdoor kitchen, complete with upcycled taps and sink.

A trip to a converted 1960s horsebox in Swindon called The Swallow speaks to Bethan and John's love of vintage vehicles and gives them lots of ideas for their railway carriage.

Simon and his team are in Devon to help create a unique B&B that's not just for people. After finally achieving their dream of buying a small holding and stables, Michele and Tobin realised that the tired summerhouse on the property could offer lodgings for people, whilst the stables meant they could also bring their horses – or even alpacas.

But turning a very ordinary garden summerhouse into something more appealing to the horsey set provides a big challenge to Simon and his team.

A visit to the rustic Scollas Lodge in the Tamar Valley shows Michele and Tobin just how a hand-built wooden cabin can appeal to the B&B customer and convinces them that wany edge is the way to go on their summerhouse.

Top carpenter Ian Tsang is tasked with creating a bed that can be raised or lowered to make the most of the tiny space, designers Zoe Hewitt and Sophie Dunn help Michele to realise her American prairie dream for the interior, and Tobin comes up with a novel use for all the left over horseshoes from the stables.

In Monmouthshire in south Wales, Simon and his team are seeing double when they take on a 1980s bus conversion.

Stacey, or ‘Stig' to her friends, is a volunteer at the local tip recycling centre and gained her nickname due to her love of upcycling things other people had thrown away. When she came across a bus for sale, she knew it was the perfect vehicle to create a mobile B&B that she could take to festivals and campsites to rent out. But for Stig, it's not just about creating a source of income; she wants to show others that her autism is no barrier to her creativity and ability to achieve her goals.

A visit to a converted former mountain rescue truck called Big Red, now located in Chew Valley just outside Bristol, provides inspiration for the project.

Top carpenter Ian Tsang creates an enormous bed upstairs, whilst Simon builds a bathroom with a view and a kitchen counter using leftover parquet. Designers Verity Coleman and Sophie Dunn stick to Stig's mantra of recycle and reuse to create an interior that proves that one person's trash can really be another's treasure.

In Wiltshire, planning restrictions mean that primary school teacher Tara can only build temporary structures on a piece of land she inherited. This, and her desire to only use upcycled or recycled materials provides a challenge for Simon and his team.

Using a reassembled corrugated metal shed that Tara acquired second hand, Simon devises a plan to create a tiny off-grid eco shed that will be a truly unique place to stay. But when he comes up with a plan to double the tiny living space, Tara remains unconvinced until a visit to The Quirky Tin Cottage, a similar B&B nearby, also made of corrugated metal.

As the site has no water or drainage, and everything needs to be removable from the site, top carpenter Ian Tsang is given the tricky challenge of creating a compost loo from recycled pallets, and designer Zoe Hewitt skilfully uses Tara's love of vintage furniture and recycled materials to create a stunning mid-century themed interior.

In Dorset, musicians Ralph and Dizzy live on a farm with extended family and run woodland workshops in their bender, a simple shelter made from hazel sticks. They want to make the existing structure more attractive to paying customers and have asked Simon and his team to help build it.

Simon orders the demolition of the original bender and sets about designing a place built almost entirely with hazel harvested from the surrounding woodland and upcycled or reused materials. Ralph, Dizzy and their friends are brought in to help build the structure.

Top carpenter Ian Tsang gets to grips with the doorway and a central skylight to bring light into the structure, Simon works out how to integrate the huge chapel windows Dizzy has found, and designers Zoe Hewitt and Sophie Dunn create a colourful interior using dozens of blankets, carpets and throws.

Inspiration comes from a trip to Garden House Yurt in West Sussex, another dome-shaped B&B where owner Lindsay has mixed traditional Mongolian design with bohemian chic.
