3-minute Maiko - Episode Guide

In this very first episode, we will offer you a short story what maiko is all about. Maiko are actually still in training. Girls hoping to become Geiko who've mastered arts like dance and the shamisen, are called maiko. Let's visit their home ground, Kagai (or flower districts) in Kyoto!

This time we look at how a maiko gets made up. A maiko's appearance is completely transformed as she develops over time. We will focus on the things that makeover maiko, from their makeup to costume, accessories and footwear.

In this episode, we follow the day a maiko as she makes her debut. Everything for her debut, from hairstyling to makeup and kimono dressing, is special. The debut of a maiko does not mean that it is the goal but the start of her career.
