Dark Matter

Hailed as one of the best sci-fi novels of the decade, Dark Matter is a story about the road not taken. The series follows Jason Dessen, a physicist, professor, and family man who – one night while walking home on the streets of Chicago – is abducted into an alternate version of his life. Wonder quickly turns to nightmare when he tries to return to his reality amid the multiverse of lives he could have lived. In this labyrinth of mind-bending realities, he embarks on a harrowing journey to get back to his true family and save them from the most terrifying, unbeatable foe imaginable: himself.

Because of dumb writing. Why is Jason1 the "real" Jason or even Jason1? If decisions branch realities, then all other Jason's branched after he entered the box are as legitimately Jason from that starting reality because they all started from the same reality. So we could have followed any other Jason from beginning to end and that Jason would be Jason1. Gets dumber in the final episode when Jason's start killing each other......why? Any Jason that started from that reality would know that Daniela and Charlie are not going to accept them especially if they are killers. The loose ends and complete lack of logic had my wife begging to just stop watching 20 minutes into the end of the last episode. How this became a popular book or how anyone could enjoy the complete lack of common sense and logic is beyond me.

I don't think the point is that they couldn't all be "1", as they obviously could. The "interesting" part is them flooding this one specific "reality", as they're all "programmed" to end up there. And the only "solution" being for the family to leave in the box, no matter which Jason is "chosen" as "1".

As for them killing eachother, it's seemingly to show how Jason is also capable of "wrong" decisions, epsecially when desperate, as his more selfish version originally creating all of this mess by building the box is also based on a morally wrong decision. "Our" version of Jason seems to be portrayed as the most morally righteous one.

I totally agree. This is one of the few well written shows on air right now and its a shame they went and made it only one season. The characters are memorable and the way they portray their different selves is just intriguing. I hope a spin-off or even a second season would be thought off. Hats off to the team. Brilliant show

Literally hundreds of possible spin-offs :)

Question: Why did all the Jasons start converging on this one universe? There are infinite universes with infinite Daniellas and infinite Charlies. So why are they all converging on Jason1's universe?
