Struggling with his newfound fame, the pressures of filming live from his family home, and a subsequent lack of money, Alex is determined to prove to the nation that he's a credible leader of his band, while trying not to be overshadowed by the real musicians he works with. In the opening episode, following an unsuccessful TV appearance, Alex is determined to prove that he's a credible musician and bandleader. Meanwhile, production extraordinaire Thora (Desiree Burch) notices that acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Reggie Watts is touring the UK and books him as a guest on The Horne Section TV Show. And when Channel 4 exec Ash (Georgia Tennant) commissions a new programme, the World's Strongest Musician, Alex sees his chance to prove himself to the nation and enters the band to compete on his behalf. A shock twist in the final means that The Horne Section could be eliminated, but is there someone in their midst who can save the day?

Alex finds out that he's won Best Original Male Artist at the Multi-Platform Awards! This calls for an acceptance speech in his trademark original style. But Alex also needs to write a birthday speech for Ash (Georgia Tennant) and a monologue for The Horne Section TV Show - and all of them are due this evening. After a bout of procrastination, Alex finally gets down to it, before finding out that he's been booked for a corporate gig hosting the UK Disinfectant Products Awards. The pressure is on for Alex; how will he write a monologue, a birthday speech and an awards acceptance all in time for tonight's live simulcast?
