Anders Kråkevik plans to fly the length of Norway with a paraglider, but a chance meeting with the reindeer herding Sami Mathis makes him plant his feet on Finnmarksvidda instead.

Anders has lived with Mathis on the vidda for half a year. It has become spring, and the herd will be moved towards the coast. Anders receives a very special gift from Mathis.

Through four seasons, Anders has lived with Mathis on the vidda, and he himself has become a reindeer owner. Mathis tells him that nature will test him, which it does.

Anders returns to Kautokeino, and there is great excitement about whether his reindeer has had a calf.

Travel and wedding plans are being made in Kautokeino. Anders and Mathis go to Hardanger to make apple cider for the wedding.

Anders and Mathis arrive in Mongolia, and Mathis's big dream of meeting the reindeer people comes true.
