What exactly was the point of the main character being Nigerian in the first place? They made it look like it had some special bearing on his heritage as a Nigerian only for that whole trope to be thrown out of the window for a fairly boring murder mystery. As a Nigerian, I see it as just pandering or black-casting. While it's nice to see black actors getting more positive roles in "historic" shows, there was absolutely no need for it. It could as well be another Agatha Raisin or Grantchester episode with no bearing on the Nigerian/African angle.
