Anya Kalinina has dreamed of becoming a doctor since childhood. In preparation for entering medical school, Anna works part-time at the post office to help her grandmother a little. Kolya, the son of a local businessman Volkov, has long and hopelessly been in love with Anya. Once a cadet of the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Artyom comes to visit the girl's neighbor, and Anya falls in love for the first time. Young people spend several days together and agree to meet in a month, so as not to part ever again. But a series of tragic events disrupt their plans.
