Virginia works as a governess in Carlos Alberto Junquera's home just to be close to him, but her dream of becoming part of the family is interrupted when Anabella enters their lives.

Rodrigo confesses to Virginia that his family is in ruins. He asks Virginia to marry him so that, when he dies, she will take care of his children.

Alirio is upset when he learns that Carlos Alberto plans to ask for Anabella's hand in marriage. Rodrigo prepares a special dinner to announce to his children that Virginia will be in charge of running the household.

Rodrigo and Virginia get married in secret. Danilo carries out his plans to win Virginia over. He offers her a job working for him.

Raquel is upset to see that Virginia has changed the house rules. Carlos Alberto suspects that Rodrigo's financial situation is getting worse and worse. Rodrigo sends a farewell letter to his children.

The inspector insists that Carlos Alberto is Rodrigo's killer. Santiago promises Vanessa that he will divorce his wife so he can be with her.

Danilo makes Virginia believe that Carlos Alberto is a murderer. Carlos Alberto asks Anabella to help him get out of jail. Virginia agrees to marry Danilo.

Vanessa and the Junquera siblings grieve over Carlos Alberto's death, unaware that he is actually alive. Vanessa decides to marry Eduardo to make him happy during the final days of his life.

Because of his jealousy, Eduardo tries to kill Vanessa. Before dying, he asks Vanessa to be happy with Carlos Alberto. Vanessa and Carlos Alberto finally manage to build a family and live happily ever after.
