Twenty years after Ale and Anna's chance encounter on a train journey in the summer of 1996, they happen to meet once again in Bologna, Italy.

Seeing each other again rekindles Anna and Ale's love; while Anna begins to doubt her marriage, Ale must decide whether to stay in Bologna.

The two continue to see each other in secret, but while Ale is ready to commit to their relationship, Anna, with more to lose, remains reluctant.

Hoping to spend a weekend together, Ale and Anna escape for a romantic getaway, but things do not go as planned.

Anna tries to save their marriage after Guido discovers the truth; feeling worse than ever, Ale considers leaving Bologna.
