It's a Living

It's a Living takes place at a posh restaurant, Above the Top which is located on the top floor of a California high rise hotel. This series originally began in October of 1980 on ABC and ran for one season. ABC must have had faith in the show for it returned the following season under a new title, Making a Living. After that everyone thought they had seen the last of it, but in 1985, It's a Living restarted production for an additional four seasons which ran in syndication. The stories revolved around the waitresses (who've included: Lois, Jan, Dot, Cassie, Vicki, Maggie, Amy and Ginger) their boss and hostess, Nancy, and the piano man Sonny.

My fourth favorite episode of the series, which has some terrific dialogue from both Gail Edwards and Ann Jillian.  My favorite part of the episode is the exchange between Cassie and Nancy(Marion Mercer) in which Nancy say to Cassie, "You know, I won't be able to look at a bottle of hydrogen peroxide without thinking of you."  To which Cassie responds, "And I won't be able to watch 'Night Of The Living Dead' without thinking of you."  Also, the part where the girls get interviewed is fun, where each one talks about their backgrounds and what their ambitions in life are, which catches a glimpses of what the girls are as people.

That should be "glimpse," not "glimpses."

Out of the 120 total episodes(27 ABC network episodes - 93 syndication episodes), this is by far the worst episode of the entire series and the weakest one.  The episode barely has any good laughs and it seems that every cast member was disinterested in doing this particular episode.

The actress playing the annoying roommate at the hospital where Dot is staying for her operation is quite good in this otherwise bland episode.  She was able to deliver some good laughs in her scenes with Gail Edwards("Dot").
