The story is about how two young, attractive girls, Sveta and Tanya, who live in rented apartment No. 7 on the second floor of an apartment building in Moscow, are forced to look for a third tenant who would share all the utility costs with them. They come across a handsome guy named Kostya, who is also an excellent cook, as he is studying to become a chef.
The only obstacle to their happy alliance is the apartment owner, Semyon Kuzmich, who lives with his wife, Inna Pavlovna, on the floor below; they are both pensioners. Their views on life are, to put it mildly, old‑fashioned, and their declared morality borders on militant hypocrisy. The girls have to resort to a trick – they convince the owner that the guy is gay.
