They're camping out at his mother's house, with 2 small children and mom is looking forward to getting her life back. An extended renovation finally becomes urgent, when the first winter heating bill arrives. over $300. They plan to pull out a large window, reframe it, run HVAC to the room, and hang dry wall in four days. Jamie is a painter and a carpenter and he's in uncharted waters on this project but he's not worried. On the other hand, Kim has some anxiety about this unknown expedition, especially when it requires going down into a creepy crawl space. Watch how bad weather, wrong measurements and extremely tired homeowners collide to form the perfect storm of renovation.

The Vitale Job

Geff and Tiina Vitale have a home just down the road from the Jersey Shore. They have an old deck attached to their house and they want to try to salvage as much as possible. Also, the Vitale's would like to rework the deck in the dead of winter, so they can enjoy the renovated deck in the Spring and Summer. Geff's idea is to detach the deck from the house, knock out every-other plank, save the remaining ones, but add new wood to create a sturdier, bigger deck. Geff and Tiina have a newborn, so Tiina's limited with the amount of work she can contribute, so Geff recruits his best friend, Jay. Jay however, is the last one to know that he's in it for the long run. Aside from the deck being a bit of a bear to restructure, below freezing temperatures only add to the difficulty of the job. This is one show that truly tests friendship during the renovation process.

But, things turn serious when Amy gets sick and winds up in the hospital, causing jeopardy in finishing the renovation.

Simon and Christi dreamed of living in a warehouse beside a body of water. The one they finally found literally has a river running through the property but is completely empty: devoid of walls, kitchen, and insulation. Combining new materials and some they have saved for this day from their architectural salvage business, the plan is grand and the time frame is tight. They want to raise the floor, frame walls, install a sink, shower, toilet, lighting fixtures and new windows in just five days. Luckily Christi has secured five days of daycare and lots of help from friends and family for child care in the evening hours. This well laid plan starts to erode when their daughter gets sick on day two and can't go to daycare. The plan erosion turns into an all out explosion when their second child falls ill. Watch these two try and accomplish some part of their plan for a master bathroom with two sick kids right in the middle of the work. Bring some earplugs!

Since contractors told her she'd be spending an estimated $180,000 to renovate the building, Araceli decided to take a bite out of the budget by recruiting two friends to help her turn the building's foyer into a cozy welcoming area for guests. One of Araceli's friend is a passionate Argentine chef named Natalia ... the other friend is the cafe's PR director, Starr. Their goal ... tear out a wall to open up the space, rip out existing tile in the foyer and replace it with more updated tiles and create a cool little counter out of a pair of old doors. Add to the madness, the women only have three days to accomplish their goal since they're hosting a preview party on Monday night.

Their plan is to tear out their entire kitchen, replace the floor, the cabinets and countertops, and expand their kitchen by removing a bathroom. Problems plague the Fullers when a one day demolition turns into a three day nightmare. The HVAC unit in the wall compromises their design plans and an extremely complicated cabinet installation almost does the family in. Even with their 9 year old son Max chipping in, after 4 days the kitchen is still torn up, and only the cabinets are done.

The structure of the house boat is in better shape than he thought but this job is going to require two people if any progress is to be made in three days. Grayson agrees to help his dad as long as it doesn't get in the way of the fraternity parties planned for the weekend. Robert, with occasional help from Grayson embarks on a weekend project in the ocean which starts with a good surprise and then descends into rising tides pulling the boat loose, a barge lifting off the top of the boat, gale force winds and torrential rains, all while trying to have a little father son time...AARG!

Both Aaron and Darcy have really busy schedules, and want to take advantage of Darcy's Spring Break to finally renovate their horrible kitchen. However, this gives them only a week to gut the entire kitchen and add new walls, ceilings, floors, cabinets, countertops, electrical outlets, and appliances. While Hiroko watches the kids, Aaron and Darcy run into all sorts of issues in this kitchen overhaul. From delays in getting the cabinets, to arguments over ice and trash, to drywall disasters, and a missing child, this renovation proves to be a bigger headache then they bargained for. Especially when a huge electrical problem is discovered, causing Aaron and Darcy to reflect and realize that this renovation saved their lives. This is one renovation that's truly life changing.

Marcel and Daryl Fingers are a busy couple with demanding jobs, leaving them with no time to renovate their bland, boring master bath. Taking a couple days off of work, they plan to take out the shower, the walls, and countertop and infuse the bathroom with their style; contemporary Asian, or contasian, as they refer to it. From the beginning, Marcel is forced to wait on Daryl. Whether he's doing his morning routine, answering work phone calls, or having to go into work, Marcel learns that she can do renovation projects just as well Daryl can. Especially, when he hurts his shoulder and wants to quit. She's the one who won't give up, and completes the bathroom herself, with little guidance from a friend, as Daryl heads back into the office.

This renovation begins with renting a sandblaster to take the paint off a brick wall and follows our couple through tearing out a new door opening, bringing the door home on top of the car, tearing out carpet, using fabric for the wall covering, and installing a new laminate floor...all the while Tim dragging his feet and Annie cracking the whip to get this room into shape.

Since the job's going to involve a lot of work which neither Lori or Marshall can do, they've recruited their son-in-law Adam to help. However, none of them are too familiar with plumbing and in a master bathroom that's going to be gutted to its bare bones, that could be a problem!!

Although Pomai considers herself a handywoman, Stephen is an accountant and is not used to the exhausting physical labor. They plan to gut their entire kitchen and install new cabinets, flooring, ceiling panels, and move the ceiling fan. But their renovation has to happen fast since Pomai is due to go into labor soon. Stephen works very hard for his "queen" Pomai who has taken on the role of project manager. They hit a few snags in the process but eventually they complete Pomai's dream kitchen.

The Brown Project

To fix this, Charlene has decided to create a hallway allowing both roommates access to the bathroom. But it's a rocky ride when Charlene is completely unprepared and her friend Stephanie is over dealing with all the nonsense. The rocky ride takes a nosedive when a fed up Stephanie calls it quits ending not only the renovation, but their friendship too.

The DeLama Project

Mauricio De Lama recently bought a house with his girlfriend, Janette. She's decorated the entire house, leaving Mauricio living amongst a sea of pretty pillows and flowers. Needless to say, he's desperate to have his own 'man space' free of all the girlie decorations. Mauricio has enlisted his buddy Han Lee, to transform his boring, old garage into a 'Man Only Zone.' However, neither Mauricio nor Han Lee have ever lifted a hammer, let alone used a power tool. In fact, they have to call their friend Mike to borrow some tools, and his truck to haul the supplies needed. From the start, these guys don't have a clue about home renovation, and it shows. From insulation and drywall goofs to assistance on window framing over the phone, these guys prove that it's sometimes worthwhile to know a little about home renovation.

The Finn Project

Steven and Betsy Finn are a young couple living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Betsy, an award-winning professional photographer, operates her studio out of their basement. It's a barren space with nothing more than some backdrops hanging on one wall, and a seating area with miss-matched couches against another. Wanting to make the space more client-friendly, they plan to insulate the basement floor and walls, lay plywood subflooring, frame the walls, install drywall, update the electrical system, add new lighting, and lay laminate flooring, all in just five days. They start out making decent time, until a violent storm knocks out their power, forcing them to stop work earlier than anticipated. The setbacks become a recurring theme as the couple battles scheduling conflicts, unfamiliar tools, and hunger-fueled blowups throughout the renovation. After five days of backbreaking work, not to mention blowing through their budget, Steven and Betsy finish less than half of the renovation and they soon realizes that this renovation is going to longer than either of them ever expected.

The Wiebe Project

As the renovation begins, the Wiebes battle setbacks ranging from mice nests to rotten sewage pipes leaking down their wall. As they near the end of the job, a granite countertop can't be cut in time and they end up missing their deadline.

Their problems begin almost immediately as they try using a heavy concrete saw and then struggle to lift a 300lb door into the 2nd story room. On the final day with the rain rolling in and the sunroom open to the elements, Debbie comes to the realization that her project is going to take more than just a few days. It's going to take weeks and the renovation is put on pause.

With only a few days before Kody begins classes, the rush is on for the couple to essentially gut their kitchen and start all over. Between a pesky microwave that refuses to come off the wall, a lost receipt that derails an entire day's work, a two-year old who craves constant attention, and the couple's lack of professional expertise, Kody and Elisabeth begin to seriously doubt they'll ever finish in time. But with a lot of focus and determination, Kody and Elisabeth finish with no time to spare-their work culminating in an ultra-modern space the family can only describe as "awesome."

Between endless interruptions from their children, remnants of mice living in their walls, and trying to figure out how to build an entirely new staircase, the Sebolts have plenty of setbacks. But in the end, they push through and end up with a bathroom that has plenty of space and lots of charm to fit in with the rest of their home.

The roof leaks like crazy, and the water damage has caused the support beams to bow and buckle. In other words, it could collapse at anytime. Even though Stephen has plenty of experience with this type of work, nothing can prepare him for the follies that ensue. From nearly collapsing through the roof and onto the concrete below, to some hired help that can't seem to live up to his standards, Stephen's renovation is full of mishaps. With his back feeling worse every day, Stephen is determined to push through-even if it means he can't move once the job is finished.

Luke and Sarah Allen live in a nice home in a nice neighborhood, but the house was built in the 1950s when rooms were small and choppy. So Luke and Sarah decide to find a solution on their own and begin renovating, starting by knocking down the wall that separates the two rooms they want to combine. After days spent disagreeing on the safest way to take down their load-baring wall and trying to figure out how to lift a 700 pound beam to replace it with, the Allens finally end up with the space and comfort they needed.

That's why Matt enlists the help of his big brother Casey and together they begin taking the old roof down piece by piece. They start off strong, but when the brothers begin to encounter unforeseen obstacles like unstable, rotted wood and damaged tarpaper, they are faced with the biggest obstacle of all, each other.

Vicki and Mark Teed live in a palatial spread in a small town just outside Ann Arbor, Michigan. They have grown tired of their current master bath and with just a handful of vacation days to work, Mark believes he can deliver on Vicki's dream of a completely updated and welcoming master bath. What Mark hasn't counted on, however, is Vicki's desire to help. Mark is a mechanical engineer by trade, who is also well versed in home improvement, but Vicki has no experience on any level of home improvement. From demoing walls that were meant to be spared, to breaking every tool, tile, and toaster she touches, Vicki just can't seem to catch a break during the renovation. And therefore, neither can Mark. With the project just over half complete, and no vacation time left for either of them, Vicki and Mark decide to call the renovation to a halt while they still have even half a bathroom standing.

Jon Sheard is a family man with a passion for playing music. But now that Jon's music room is right next door to the newest edition of the Sheard home, their 1-year-old son Alec, Jon's loud jam sessions have been put on hold. He decided the best solution would be to renovate the detached garage and convert it into a space where he can rock out without waking up the baby. With help from Jon's brother Kevin, the renovation begins. They tear out old cabinetry, install a new door, but right when they start making progress Kevin's wife goes into labor leaving Jon at a stand still. With the clock ticking Jon's dad steps in to fill Kevin's shoes, but their father and son battle between old technology and new slows the project down. In the end, Kevin comes back to help finish the job and Jon's rock room is complete.

While neither is a stranger to smaller renovations, Lauren's confrontational and controlling attitude has been known to cause a few sparks between the couple. This complete bathroom overhaul will surely be a strenuous project, but as long as Mike's prepared to accommodate all of Lauren's demands, they should end up with their ideal bathroom.

Along the way, they'll have to figure out what's wrong with the water line and fix it in hopes that the luxury of ice can once again be theirs. Having completed a few minor renovations in the past, the Hansens are both wildly intimidated by this huge renovation. Keith's perfectionist and stubborn character mixed with Andrea's detail oriented attitude will likely cause some problems, but after eight years of marriage, they're positive they can handle it together.

The multiple layers of dingy laminate flooring, which Mustafa refers to as linoleum inception, are going to be demolished so they can install new ceramic tiles. The next project will be the removal of the drop ceiling, which is already half missing, and the fluorescent lights home to hundreds of dead bugs. This kitchen renovation is the last thing Baha needs to complete before moving into his new home, and he's positive that with his best friend's help, he can finally have the kitchen of his dreams.

Once that is complete, they feel as if the entire space is too closed off, so they plan on opening up the entire area by demolishing all interior walls to start with a blank slate. The ceiling is drooping and needs to come down, a broken window and its frame will be replaced and the broken flooring will be torn out as well. When all demo is complete, Whitney and Brad will then install insulation, drywall and new bamboo floors throughout. Even after all of this work, they are planning on hiding an exposed HVAC duct somehow. With limited DIY experience, The Hancocks are overwhelmed by the sheer size of this renovation, but know that they need the extra space.

The sagging ceilings and beaten up floors will be demolished as well, so this truly is a complete renovation. While both are familiar with minor renovations, this project is larger than anything either has taken on before. However, they both agree that the added space is paramount, so they're willing to do anything to get it done.

Chad isn't a stranger to small renovations, but Katie, who makes a living as a Britney Spears impersonator in Vegas, has no idea what she's doing. Combine that with the fact that Chad describes his plumbing and electrical skills as "sub-par at best," and this renovation will surely challenge the couple's problem-solving skills.

To finish out the demo portion of their renovation, the cement walkway leading up to the stairs will be torn up as well. The Velasquez family is planning on building a contemporary front porch after all this demo is completed. Consisting of an extended roofline, multiple steel support cables that create a 'floating' appearance, this renovation will completely change the look of their home. A new stone walkway will be laid down to add a warm and inviting finishing touch to this ambitious project. Jaci and Nic are excited to have a front porch that their children aren't afraid of, that won't injure friends and family who walk on it, and they can't wait to get started.
