Paloma, a humble young woman, marries Porfirio Cruz, a wealthy landowner in San Luis Potosí. During a local fair, she meets Renato, and an undeniable attraction sparks between them. Torn by guilt, Paloma returns to the hacienda to care for her ailing husband.
