Carl Frampton - On Probation

The Probation Board for Northern Ireland is involved at all stages of the criminal justice process - working in courts, the community, in prisons and directly with victims of crime. Television cameras have been given access to its work for the first time and the result is a new documentary series, Carl Frampton: On Probation.

In each episode Carl goes behind-the-scenes at every level of probation, shadowing Probation Officers as they work to prevent people reoffending and meeting Service Users with a history of offences, to check in on their progress.

As Carl explains, he grew up in a part of Belfast where it would have been easy for his life to have taken a wrong turn, but boxing took him in a different direction. He reflects on how peoples' traumatic experiences at home or when growing up can affect their lives for years afterwards, and why it's sometimes difficult for them to change their behaviours and outlook.
