Mi querida Isabel is a Mexican telenovela that centers on Isabel Rivas, a simple, beautiful and happy young girl and a dedicated law student who supports her dysfunctional family following the presumed death of her mother two decades earlier. Her family is noble and affectionate but her father hides his addiction to the alcohol and the truth about the mother of Isabel and Marcos, who is alive and unjustly put in jail. Her younger brother Marcos pursues a rebellious lifestyle focused on music and easy money. While working as a waitress in the university, Isabel meets a nice guy, Juan Daniel. A beautiful, pure and enthusiastic love starts between Juan Daniel and Isabel. Juan Daniel is an architect who is meant to be successful. His family is rich and lives in luxury, but also they have their own secrets. The mother of Juan Daniel is a dominant and bitter widow who controls the life of her children. The core plot revolves around Isabel's involvement in the case of Sagrario, a woman imprisoned for 20 years on charges of murder she insists she did not commit. Unaware of their blood relation, Isabel fights to prove Sagrario's innocence and ultimately welcomes her into the family home upon her release.
