Svärtan - Episode Guide

Midsummer 1985 on Särsö begins in a sun-drenched idyll - until a young boy is found dead in the water. When Johannes and his friends arrive for the summer holidays, expectations are sky-high, but the island is marked by the mysterious drowning. During a forbidden excursion to the mythical island of Svärtan, Johannes and his friends make a discovery that changes everything.

Johannes tries to understand the creature they have hidden away in Krutgubben's boathouse and is determined to keep the girls out. At the same time, anxiety grows on Särsö when the police investigation points to something far darker than an accident. The creature's presence begins to affect the mood in the youth gang and tensions arise.

Krilles' violent behavior scares the young people and Mattias begins to suspect that he is hiding something about Danne's death. Johannes, on the other hand, focuses all his attention on the mermaid and her strange powers. When he realizes how bad Helena is feeling, he lets her meet the mermaid - with unexpected consequences.

Särsö gathers for the annual party in honor of the sea, but after Danne's death, far from everyone feels grateful. While old conflicts flare up during the party night, Johannes is drawn deeper and deeper into the obsession with the mermaid. When he sees how Helena is affected by her powers, Johannes's anxiety grows, and in the end he is forced to make a crucial decision.

Särsö prepares for the big Live Aid night - but suspicion and fear are growing beneath the surface. The gang is more divided than ever and Johannes tries to keep both the lies and the friendships together. But during Live Aid he realizes that Helena has disappeared without a trace and drops everything to go out and look for her.

Axelsson presses Krille for answers about his dead friend Danne, while Johannes is tormented by the guilt surrounding Helena. Old stories about Svärtan come to the surface and when the mermaid suddenly returns, Johannes is forced to make a crucial choice - at the same time that Axelsson comes dangerously close to the truth.
