The story follows Magalí Garcés, a woman who runs an apple company founded by her father. When she gave birth to a baby seven years earlier, her father surrendered the child to an orphanage and lied to her, claiming the baby had died.
Years later, however, she discovers that her child is alive, though she does not know the child's gender or whereabouts. She begins searching for her son or daughter across various orphanages. Meanwhile, an orphanage run by a cruel matron receives a donation from Magalí, unbeknownst to her, she has given the funds to the very place where her child is living.
