Business-school lecturer Chao Ning and IT executive Yi Linxun meet through a practical blind date, both carrying scars from previous relationships and neither particularly interested in falling in love again. They agree to a six-month trial marriage with an unusual bet: whoever asks for a divorce first loses. What begins as a deliberately emotionless arrangement changes through everyday companionship, especially when Yi Linxun quietly supports Chao Ning through a career crisis and both begin lowering the defenses they built after their past relationships. Just as they finally admit their feelings, Chao Ning's former boyfriend returns and unsettles their fragile new relationship, eventually prompting her to leave for further studies abroad. Their temporary "nest" becomes a test of whether two emotionally guarded adults can stop treating love as something to survive and instead turn their contractual marriage into a genuine home.
