My First Day

I’m sorry if any of this has been mentioned. I had a scan through, and didn’t find a lot of this, and was told to just go for it and give my opinion and recommendations.

Bulk “watch” is ok, not great. It’s good you can bulk rate from like season 3, and it goes back to episode 1. It’s ok when you have watched every episode of a show. Took me a while to figure out how to bulk watch, as it wasn’t clear. Spent a few hours clicking every single eye logo. Also, If you have seen every episode and special. If it’s a show with about 15 seasons. The specials tab doesn’t show. Can’t the specials be included in the overall tagging? Just show as the specials at the start, so if they haven’t watched it, they can click the arrow after it. If they have, it simple to include. But what if you have seen season 3-8? You still have to mark each episode singularly. Bulk rating needed where you can tick episodes you watched. Incase you started a long TV show a few episodes in, and carried on for a few seasons and gave up. Otherwise it’s such a pain clicking each individual episode. Some shows I love every single episode. As a new user, the ability to mark all episodes easy, but also to mark all at 10/10would save so much time. Or if it’s a very average season, all 5/10. Many sitcoms, I love every episode. I would give them all 10/10.But the time it takes to rate each individual. I’ve stopped logging ratings per episode. It took so long to log a little sitcom which might have only had 2 series of 6 half hour episodes. Many I’d log and rate 10/10. I didn’t rate because I’ve already spend all day logging my watched episodes.

Comment section on the TV show home page. So you can comment on the show, not just on an episode. This would be really brilliant. I have comments about shows. You can’t assign that to an episode. Plus if people are browsing shows, they can click on it, and see peoples comments about how good or bad it is, and what seasons great, or if it trails off. I think that is essential. I’m really surprised you don’t have this facility already.

Maybe when looking through shows. If you hover over the heart to “follow”. You get a drop down. To “watched all”, “Rate all”. Would make it so much easier for new users. Or even old users who forgot to log old shows like Only Fools and Horses or something. You have to click through so many times and then press back so many times, to log the episodes, and the ratings. Then get back to the last show page you were on.

When I saw the heart, I didn’t know it was just to follow. I thought it was to mark it as one of your best shows. Maybe an option to mark shows above others you follow? So you can give extra impact to shows that have really taken over your life? Usually on a site that would be a heart logo. Don’t know what you could use now. But like on followmytv. You follow a show, and you “love” a show by pressing the heart.

A minor suggestion. I like the time you watched and logged shows of TV shows watched on Followmytv. And also the amount of hours watched, and logged as a rating. I’ve been in the top 15 for a while, and I do check it a lot. To see were I am on the site. It makes me feel part of a group. Where I am in terms of contributors to making the site work. On your site. I don’t know how many users. It’s also hard to know, because of the lack of comments on shows (like I say, a comment section on the TV show home page, would promote more interaction, and more of a feeling of a community.)

These are just my initial thoughts on being on here for my first day. I have other minor thoughts. I don’t want to sound like a whinger. If you want to hear my other ideas, I’ll be happy to tell. I like how progressive your site is.

I personally don't think we should add a page with top members of having the most series watched or spend most of the time. Watching series is not a competition and those kinda of stats I find it not worth adding to TVmaze.

There are already some stats available on your profile beneath the tab 'Stats' like the number of shows you are following, the amount of episodes you watched or the total time you have logged on all your series.

There are some features in your list that are great indeed, but the option follow or love for example wouldn't make much sense. You simply can follow a show and create a tag for the shows you love in your dashboard.

Comments like that are one of the reasons I made the Thread. Some things I didn't know.

I was asked to write what I thought, so these are my first impressions.

The follow or love Idea was just to separate the normal from the exceptional, so people browsing, seeing a show that was not only followed, but loved by many, would be more inclined to try it. Would be a way of strongly recommending a show to people who have never heard of it. That's all I thought. I don't really know about tags on here yet, but will look into it. Thank you Thomas.

The ''love'' option would only be valid if we have stats like; this show has an amount of xxxx followers, which is planned I believe to be added in the far further.

Not sure whether you have looked through here, but in fact those pending features are up to vote by simply following it; http://www.tvmaze.com/forums/6/pending-features

Yes I've voted on a few of them. Thanks for the link anyway.

The amount of follows would be a good feature to add.
