Hello,
I've just had an email from Locate Tv, saying that I can forward all of my info over to any site, and gave the link for TVMaze. How do I do that?

I still have not received an email from LocateTV regarding exporting my data as you & others on differenthave reported. Could you tell me the email address it came from or the reply address if they provided one? TIA

From what i've gathered. LocateTV will be sending a second mail since a lot of users didn't get the export in their mail. No date was given.

Could somebody in charge please go to this site and examine what it can do. It's what I wish tvmaze did! For any given day you can see a simple, uncluttered, chronological list of all episodes showing of whatever series you're following, but ONLY of episodes you haven't already seen (or have marked as seen but which you want to see again). I've been using LocateTV.com for this purpose for all seven years of its existence and will miss it terribly.
Allowing your users to "follow" shows and select episodes already gives you the database to do this. Is there any chance it could happen?

New user here. I also received the JSON from LocateTV but no instructions on how to use the bloody thing.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hi everyone,

Just to keep you all up to date with what's going on.

Around March-April we spoke with the staff of LocateTV about TVmaze providing alternative tools to migrating users.

However we didn't hear from LocateTV until just a couple of days ago. We didn't get a heads up on when users would be contacted or how the format of the export would look like.

Thus... we didn't have the chance to actually prepare an import tool and have only now started to look at the logistics of it all.

We'll give you guys more info asap in regards to the progression of the importer.

So, hang in there and take the time to get to know TVmaze and everyone in it a little better.

best regards and thanks for your patience,

Jan

Regarding listing replays my question is how did LocateTV do it, that you can't do the same. I assumed (probably wrong) that there were several data feeds of that kind of data and that was were you got the 1st showing info and would also get the rerun info in the same place. Is this not correct? How could volunteers get this data and load it into TVMaze. I will admit that TVMaze it not a perfect replacement for what I lost in LocateTV but your service is pretty go and I can find about 80% of what I lost. The reruns listing would be a huge win.

I got no clue how locate tv was run and how they did things :)
I think they had a different approach on how their site was run. TVmaze only stores the premiere date for each show, but we also focus a lot on cast, characters, guest cast, summaries, screencaps, recaps and much more.
The calendar and the watchlist are also very important to us.

We mostly get the premiere dates from press releases, shows that air first for example in Russia or Poland are mostly added by users from those countries.

To add each and every rerun of each show worldwide (I suppose that was what locate tv did) was and is not our goal. We would need an immense staff to be able to do this and that staff would also have to contain members from almost all countries worldwide (at least the ones that air tv shows).

If there would be a feed who auto-adds all re-airings of all shows worldwide, we would gladly let the data come into our site, but to my knowledge such a feed is not existing :)

I am glad that you like our site, we are constantly trying to make it better, more data is added each and every day and new features are being worked on.

cheers
Juan

If you haven't already, I suggest you read the rest of the posts above.
You can follow an actor, but all that does is list them under http://www.tvmaze.com/dashboard/follows#people - in other words, you'd need to manually visit their page to see if there's been any [new] additions (repeats aren't recorded here).
If you're meaning via the API, then it's somewhat limited; although you can get some info about the cast and the shows, you can't find out - via the API - which episodes they were actually in (via their 'people', 'character' or any embedded endpoints).
P.S If I missed something, feel free to prove me wrong

I'm sorry for the late reply. It would be for repeats and new. Thank you for your help.
