This is just an thought since the naming on some of the items on TVDB do not match the site even on tvmze it is diffrent.

Could you provide some shows you would like to be named differently, then I can look into it and give you an answer :)

For what I know Anidb is simply just a database too, which could be mistaken with names too.. We should stick to the international/romanized name given by the channel.

Also, remember that we often have other names listed under the AKA section which can be found by clicking the edit button on a show page and going to AKAs - or by adding /akas to the URL of the show page. If you search for these other names (both on-site & API), it will return the main title that we have here.

However, another thing that might help is what was asked here, to have AniDB (amognst others) added to the external IDs: http://www.tvmaze.com/threads/1336/additional-external-ids
