Email Supplents

Hi, I'm new to this so if I'm posting in the wrong place please advise.

I was a major fan of Locate TV and had every one of my watched programs/episodes on it so I am devastated it closed down as I lost all the program data I had on it which can never be replaced. I have some programs on here but what I desperately miss is the regular emails I received which detailed my forthcoming programs, series, episodes (what they were about) and when they were repeated. I don't find the Schedule and Calendar on here very easy to use.

I've seen this topic in Suggestions/Pending Features but how will I know when it's actually been implemented and will I be able to use it? Will it be always be available or will I have to subscribe?

Many thanks in advance for anyone who replies.

Hi Ace,

Unfortunately LocateTV their communication hasn't been great towards their users in the last remaining months of them, but TVmaze is not a site like LocateTV. We only store first premiere dates (no repeats nor alternate airdates in foreign countries), therefore resulting in a schedule, which misses lots of detailed information. We do have an option to receive emails with upcoming series, but I guess this won't be as detailed as you want it to be.

There are many pending features which you may like, but as of yet we can't give you any ETA on any pending feature as David & Jan arei extremely busy with TVmaze and their jobs.

Cheers,

FYI: We don't offer email alerts ourselves, but this is something you can easily accomplish using our iCal feed. If you import it into Google Calendar or Outlook you can easily set that up to generate email alerts (or SMS alerts, push alerts, etc).

But indeed, we only work with premiere airdates and don't store rerun dates. Those are unlikely to be added in the near future, if ever.

Thanks for reply. I'm interested in the option to receive emails about upcoming series in future even if they're not as detailed as I'd like. How will I know when this is available? Will it be called something obvious on the Forum? Is it possible to do anything proactive now like Follow something (say, an email, Suggestion, etc) or sign up for something? I'm sure you get my drift!

Thanks again :)

There's a pending feature for email summaries here: http://www.tvmaze.com/threads/291/daily-or-weekly-emails-about-your-followed-shows. If you vote for it, it'll mark your interest in the feature and you'll automatically be notified if & when we work on it.

It's pretty low up on the list right now though, so it's not likely to be worked on in the short term. I suggest playing with the Google/Outlook route for now and letting us know how it works out. :)

Hi David, Thanks for replies. Unfortunately I don't understand half of what's on this website as I still use Win XP, Outlook Express and don't own a tablet/iphone/netbook or anything else. I've tried the ical feed and located Outlook Express folder but didn't know which of the items in the folder was meant to be the file name and when I guessed it wouldn't work. When I tried to save it, I don't know if it saved or not as don't know where to look! I tried to import into Google Calendar but the Calendar app wasn't listed in Google list so no go there either. I was going to play with Google/O-Express route but it's beyond me! I have voted on all these features for future ref but I'm really disappointed as the regular LocateTV email with info on my followed shows and if/when repeated was what I lived by.

I have had a brief look at the other links like one above and at API but I don't particularly want my shows on a calendar and I don't have a website or app for use with API so don't know where to go from here. I think I thought this program was the best replacement for LocateTV but in hindsight I think I was wrong.

Anyway, thanks guys for your help and advice; I'll have to research other possibilities :)
