WANTED: "About" section :)

turbopipp wrote 10 years ago: 1

Who are you guys/girls developing this site? Where do you live? How many are you? How are the development organized? Is it a hobby? Is it a full time job for some of you? What are your goals with TVmaze?

I would like to know at least. :) Keep up the good work!

Most of this david or Jan will be able to answer.

From my side i can tell you it is a hobby, as I am a total tv addict. I have a full daytime office job in a huge firm.
The goal is to make tvmaze a fun and informative place for other tv addicts and see it grow month after month. So far this seems to work out pretty well :)

As I am not responsible for programming or design, I can only say that I am doing alot of data entry here and we communicate what is most important to add first, which is of course the actual running primetime shows.

cheers
Juan

Both David, myself and everyone else have other jobs. I have a fulltime job as a front end developer. Usually I work on tvmaze in the evening and in the weekends.

We're scattered over the US and Europe.

A couple of people such as JuanArango are friends from the pre-tvmaze era. Everyone who helped kickstart the site already frequented other tv communities. So there was already a lot of experience of how such sites run and the main differences between them.
After some deliberation we all came to the conclusion that we could do better and have fun doing it.

I would say that Tvmaze was made as a response to the lack of development, lack of response and lack of interest from staff on other tv community websites. We've been developing the site from a users standpoint. Thinking about what are the tools we would like to have ourselves. And as more members have joined the site, they also have been giving us a lot of input from the perspective that is most beneficial to tvmaze's growth.

We all aspire for tvmaze to become the leader in tv and network information. A place where everyone can find the info they are looking for, where contributors have fun adding information and get some fullfillment out of it. For likeminded people to find eachother and talk about the shows they like.

I've enjoyed the road so far, we've already met a lot of awesome people who have joined tvmaze. I know we'll meet many more and I look forward to working with them towards reaching our goal. To make the most awesomest tv site on the interwebz

Maybe David or someone else will add a blob of text as well :)

This is awesome, thanks! :) About the development, how many are you currently at the back end? I work as a developer myself, both front and back end so this interest me greatly. I noticed on the big Internet that you use Yii 2.0 PHP framework, I took a look at it, and it sure seems like a time saver :) I have been wondering how you churn out all these new functions with so few people, glad I finally got to satisfy my curiosity :)
