Steven Universe Episodes

Many episodes of Steven Universe's are misplaced. Story for Steven appears twice, as 1.48 and 2.5. Open book appears as both 1.46 and 2.2. Reformed should be 2.5 but is currently 2.8. Love Letters should be 2.4, not 2.7, and I'm sure there's more.

I will get round to fixing this tomorrow afternoon :)

Also 'Shirt Club' 2x03 wrongly appears as 1x47. The rest for season 2 is just renumbering, the order is OK.

I can pick up the slack if you want :)

I started to get this correct, the huge problem is that the official site cartoon network, differs to ALL other sites, but sadly the official site is missing episodes, so anyone watching the show can tell me which source is correct ?
I will gladly fix it then tomorrow :)

We are definitely not that website's target audience :)

I know of no definitive official source, and follow the US first aired order for my numbering.

could you tell me then, what still needs to be changed now?
I will do it then :)

cheers
Juan

There are no more ordering errors at the moment; thanks Juan!

No numbering errors neither, btw :)

Only airdate that was wrong was for Steven Floats, which aired in France on 2016-05-22, but in US on 2016-07-18

The last 7 episodes of season 1 and the first 3 of season 2 are turned around again. Most are blocked from editing now. The proper order (the first aired in US order) is:

1x46 The Message
1x47 Political Power
1x48 The Return
1x49 Jailbreak
1x50 Full Disclosure
1x51 Open Book
1x52 Joy Ride
2x01 Say Uncle
2x02 Story For Steven
2x03 Shirt Club

Hello,
I changed them, I looked around everywhere on the net, each wiki, each wikia and all guides I found have that order, i am also puzzled about the airdates as it seems that later episodes aired before.
Are you absolutely sure the order you are suggesting is the correct one ?

Then I will change them back :)

cheers
Juan

Thanks Juan :)

To be honest I get the impression from most of those guides that they just copy each other. As long as there are no official production numbers available I would prefer the airing order over how it is now.

On the other hand I certainly can see the appeal of ending season 1 with Jailbreak, and the 'new' order is definitely following the overarching story better.

This is really tough lol, what should I do?

My vote, reluctantly, is for leaving as it is now. But I think you have seniority here :)

Episodes should simply be listed in the premiere/air order, with an incremental episode number. Do we know the original airing order and when a new season starts? Then the numbering should follow automatically.

it seems they were aired out of order, all sources on the net stick to the order we have now, I think it is best to leave it as it is, otherwise the season finale would be not the finale :)

Out of.. which order exactly?

It's very common for shows to air/premiere in a different order than the filming/production/etc order, but we always use the air order here. For the sake of consistency, we should do the same here unless there's an extremely compelling argument to deviate for this show. (Is there?)

JuanArango wrote 9 years ago: 1

After sleeping over it and seeing your link david, I agree, we need to stick to the order the show aired and I will change it back :)

david wrote 9 years ago: 1

For future reference: I don't watch the show myself, but I found https://www.reddit.com/r/stevenuniverse/comments/3mudsq/steven_universe_episode_order_issues_masterpost/ which describes: While the episodes can be watched in the air-order without any major loss of continuity, there are certain pacing and thematic reasons why the show works better in its intended order.

Since listing episodes in an order other than the airing order causes major confusion, only a very compelling argument should make us deviate from that, and it doesn't appear like this case is one of them.

Vote for http://www.tvmaze.com/threads/173/alternate-episode-numbering-eg-dvd-order if you'd like to see support for alternate ordering schemes besides just the airing order!

JuanArango wrote 9 years ago: 1

It is all changed back to airing order now :)

LouisWu wrote 9 years ago: 1

Thanks David and Juan, for taking the time to do all this.

I agree with listing episodes in an order other than the airing order causes major confusion, but in cases like this the alternate ordering scheme is good use case! :-)
