I have no idea why the 1st Q&A Thread was closed can't we please have this thread continue on & on?
Now for the reason I re-opened this BADLY NEEDED Thread whether you want one or not! Close this one and I will open a new one when I have a question!
Believe it on not guys NOT every single show on the Planet in TV History airs the same night week, after week after week! Therefore the so called BLOCK you have in place that does not allow us to use a day of the week that is out or it's normal airdate/day really sucks can you either please remove this or allow us to override that when it appears? I'm getting very tired of having to get this error message all the time when I need to add a show that does move around constantly
- Please fix the following errors: Bad airdate! Show is scheduled to air on Sundays, but this date is a Thursday. Note that episodes airing after midnight should belong to the previous day's date.
When I add a NEW show I must put in the day of the week it currently airs. However when I must add in missing episodes from that shows' 1st season on the only way to be able to do this is to leave the current day it airs BLANK until all the episodes have been added in and then go back and add in the current day it airs!
If no response that's fine becasue I still have quite a few unanswered Posts here so it will not be out of the ordinary?
Yes, always feel free to open a new thread when you have additional questions. When we lock a thread it's not to shut anyone up, but to try to keep matters organised and prevent a lot of different discussions from taking place in the same thread.
As the error message states, it's in place to prevent episodes being added to the wrong day for shows airing after midnight. Please note that the "Show Schedule" property for a show is not required! If you encounter a show like this where episodes air irregularly, simply leave it empty :)

OK, I do not agree with it but I will leave it blank! Besides if it is not necessary and can be left Blank why bother even having it there in the first place?

That statement makes no sense whatsoever because you are then setting yourself up to having 100's and 100's of threads. Why would you NOT CARE about having 100's of threads as opposed to keeping one open that is and will be used a lot. So if someone gets off topic just ask them to move their POST to a better thread and then for them to remove their POST in this thread. If they fail to comply within say maybe 72 hours then as a STAFF person you have the right to DELETE their POST at that time. It's just that simple & easy and saves a lot of wasted space!
hi jaguardog, there are threads that can be in the style you're describing. Like the show request thread f.e.. But when it comes to the bugs forum. We rather have a thread with a clear to the point title. The thread should only be about the initial post. And we will close it after some time once it has been answered or resolved. Cheers, Jan Posted from mobile.

Well, the value is purely informational. For example to see when a show normally airs, even if it's currently on a break. That also means that if a show does not air on a regular schedule, the property is useless. Then you can just look at the "Next Episode" information instead :)
PS: Having 100s of threads is not a problem at all, we can fit hundreds of millions if we have to ;) I would rather see 100 threads each about an individual topic, than 5 threads with all sorts of topics scattered throughout.

Okey Dokey, thanks for your time David & Jan! Sorry, that I bother you guys so awful much as I do and thanks for having such great patientience with this OLD War Veteran!
I posted a question in one of these forums 2 days ago that still has not been answered yet? I have looked all over did a Forum search and I cannot find it as the most recent post by me that the search finds other than the ones I have done today is 7 days ago.
1. It was about a show that would NOT show it's correct airtime of 22:01 in the Daily listings on the Home page yet another show that aired at 22:02 was showing the correct time and I needed to know why one was and the other one was not showing correctly? Can this possibly be answered before the end of the month if that is not to much trouble?
2. Why is the Forum search function not showing me my POST of 2 days ago?
3. Lastly can the Forum search function be modified so it shows results in order not all jumbled up like it does now please? Currently when I do a Forum search by my username of Jaguardog I get these results in this order, 28 days ago then, 25 days ago, then a month ago, then another one that is a month ago, then 27 days ago, then 26 days ago and it is in no kind of order whatsoever?
Hey Ron,
I think david answered the 1. point somewhere, but I also do not know where...
The time a show "usually airs" is within the main show settings.
When you add a new episode for this show it will show the episode listing with the same time it has within the shows main settings,
ONLY if you write a different time into the EPISODE you are adding, then it overrules the time that is set in the main show settings.
Hope that helped :)
The other two things david has to answer tomorrow .
cheers
Juan

No I am very sorry Juan but that is very confusing to me so let me rephrase what I was trying to say. One show I changed it's airtime in the episode itself to 22:02 and it then changed it on the Home Page from 22:00 to 22:02. The other show I also changed it's airtime in the episode itself from 22:00 to 22:01 but it stayed 22:00 on the Home page.

Ron,
first of all if you change the episode you are adding to 22:02 it should never change the main entry for the show to 22:02 too, that should stay on what it was set before (22:00), if it does so, it is a mistake that needs to be fixed.
So the second scenario "(the episode itself from 22:00 to 22:01 but it stayed 22:00 on the Home page)" is how it should be.
Can you give me the show and episode where the first scenario happened "(the episode itself to 22:02 and it then changed it on the Home Page from 22:00 to 22:02)" ?
I can look at the edit logs of it then and see what went wrong.

First off what you are saying makes no sense because in your example if an episode of any show has it's airtime changed let's say from 21:00 to 21:15 because this one episode was moved to begin at 21:15 then it SHOULD change on the home page as well to 22:15 to show the NEW Correct airtime and NOT stay the OLD NOW Incorrect airtime? Otherwise it would show incorrectly so that is NOT correct what you are saying!
Secondly I can't remember the names of the 2 shows in question only that the one at 22:01 was on the Science Channel? That was another reason I wanted to find my original POST with the names of both shows in it!

Yeah, I answered your question back then. You can find the thread with a forum search for 22:01: http://www.tvmaze.com/search/forums?q=22:01
PS: This is why we prefer one thread per topic ;-)

Simply remember this: the "default airtime" property for a show is only used as default value when adding new episodes. Otherwise, it doesn't affect the schedule in any way at all.

Ron,
with "home page" I mean the home page of the show not the schedule page and also not the home page of tvmaze, I think that is why we misunderstood each other :)

That is a very good possibility Juan and if so I am very sorry our wires crossed? I am in fact taking about the page that you can see from anywhere on the site that shows "HOME" and you can click on it to see "Popular Shows Airing Tonight" with a few show photos/posters that have that night's NEW Episode title on it and the list to the right under "Schedule for Jul ...." that list there is where I saw one show change from 22:00 to 22:02 but the other show failed to change there from 22:00 because it should have also changed to 22:01 but it did not change? That is the show I have in question (title of the show in question is not important because it could have been any show on any Network) so once again I ask why did 1 show appear at it's new correct airtime for that night only of 22:02 but the other show failed to appear at it's new correct airtime for that night only of 22:01?
BTW - I just noticed yesterday or the day before that below the "Popular Shows Airing Tonight" is a listing of the 6 most recently added shows to the site. I am not sure how long that very cool feature has been there but I like it a lot so thanks to whoever made that BONUS as it will help me tremendously!
Sounds like a simple mixup perhaps. If it happens again, let us know :)
Hey there Ron,
that feature is there for 2 days now, I like it a lot too :)
Well yes, were wee misunderstanding each other, so if this ever happens again, that you change a time when the show airs and that it does not change on the schedule or tvmaze homepage, please let us know, this should NOT happen :)
cheers
Juan

Thanks Juan. BTW does the :9 mean anything if it is some kind of Internet code I am not familiar with 99% of the stuff people use like that? I know lol is laughing out loud and fdlol is falling down laughing out loud and the face :) but that's about it.
It was just a typo...it was meant to be :)
