Please use the correct nation names, depending on the date.

The USSR broke up into separate nations and federations on December 25, 1991. Events (births, and so on) dated December 30, 1922 through December 24, 1991 should be listed as occurring in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (AKA USSR or CCCP), not the Russian Federation or other nations such as Ukraine. (reference for dates https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Russia table titled Formation). The alternative is to use the name of the republic, rather than USSR or Russian Federation (both collections of republics).

Similar considerations apply to Zimbabwe (Rhodesia), Czech Republic, Sri Lanka (Ceylon), the Korea(s), the Vietnam(s), Myanmar (Burma), Germany, and so on. Some of these, such as Zimbabwe, could just be referred to as the modern name followed by the old (or colonial) name in parentheses.

The TVMAZE page where I noticed the problem is http://www.tvmaze.com/people/111137/- (Дмитрий Исаев). This person was born in 1973, so he was born in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, not the Russian Federation.

The software we are using regarding countries is a third party software. I don't think those former states are going to be implemented anyhow.

We use the ISO 3166-1 set of countries, which doesn't include former countries like the USSR. I agree it would be nice to include these former countries for proper historical purposes, though this isn't trivial. ISO_3166-3 contains a list of these former countries, but in some cases their country code has been re-assigned by now, making it impossible to include them without causing conflicts.
