The years within a season is only there to give viewers an estimation when it is about to air. Once aired, this item does not have a lot of value anymore and disappears when you edit it as that year is not selectable anymore.

Yeah I know that, but a couple of months ago it didn't disappear when editing other values of a season, so that's why I reported it here :-)

It doesn't disappear if it's within 2016, while 2016 has been selected. 2015/2016 will be deleted once you edit a season in 2017 ;). It has always been like this.

I gotta say i dont agree with that info disappearing. I get that it was only set up to show when future seasons will air and while i don't agree with it i can certainly live with the fact that we can't add previous years but to delete info that's already been added purely because the year has changed, i see no reason for that. It's not like it's doing any harm sitting there so why not just leave the ones already added.

Deleting it is simply a side effect of it not being in the dropdown; the value isn't set, therefore when you update, it sees it as you've not selected a premiere year.

I have requested this feature to remain too, though David preferred not. :)

Indeed, this is pretty much intentional. The "premiere year" field on a season is only ment for future seasons, because once a season has premiered we can get the exact premiere date through the season's first episode.
I'll look into making the behavior more consistent though.
