About adding older shows

Well, it's a no-brainer really. IF you want to be the site to GO TO for tv information you not only have to be completely current on all shows airing at the moment everywhere, but also have all the information about the past. Now I know this means that a new site will have to go the extra mile (or more) to add all that has been broadcast in the past, and that's a lot.

Over in the Shows missing, request to add show(s) thread seemingly overwhelmed trusted contributors are discussing this very topic at the moment. I say this about it: add all shows that members ask for as best as you can. Then ask them to fill in the blanks, like episode summaries, cast, etc. Add and ASK. This way you, trusted contributors, help us, members, with adding the shows and we, from novices to addicts, help each other by providing what information we can.

Another thing to consider is the following: Actors and other cast members will have participated in previous shows, so that's another reason for adding shows that are no longer running.

A site like this needs to be both current and provide information about past shows to be meaningfull to members. I would go even further and suggest that someone(s) even add upcoming shows, not just the ones posted as In Development, but those coming to us real soon. But that may be something for the near future.

Just some ideas, hope to see what you all think of it ...

We are trying to do our best to add as many shows to our database that are still missing, this is either going through requests, externals or adding current shows, however as TVMaze is quite new to this market and they did start from scratch, it is a very time consuming effort, but we are slowly getting there.

I guess we are pretty current on shows that are about to start to be honest or are in development :), especially on the UK and US shows,

thanks for the head-ups and support :)

I have tasked myself to adding as many shows in Development no matter what year they may air I added one last week that claims it will not debut until 2017. I also have been adding new shows getting ready to begin in the upcoming days, weeks and months and I have added a ton of those recently as I am averaging about 10 or so a day. I do many other things here besides add shows and still work here between 10 to 14 hours a day, no job and no life. I look at the daily schedule of shows airing that day/night and fix any conflicts in scheduling and also ensure that all shows airing that day are showing on it if the show is in the database. I even look at separate episodes airing that day/night to ensure their airtime is correct and it has the correct episode title. Yesterday alone I corrected airtimes on 3 Episodes and the titles of 5 Episodes. I am strictly a U.S. shows only person as I have no clue about shows from other countries besides there are so many hours in a day that I am awake. I have also been adding in a lot of missing crew members, cast members and photos of people and shows as well.

I will someday eventually get around to adding shows from a few Foreign Countries as I feel the site is getting fairly up to date on U.S. shows. I had a period of 3 months over at tvrage a few months ago where I was on a add shows from the Philippines kick, can't remember why but it was a huge change of pace.

I believe I am doing more than my fair share to help the site become better very fast and will continue to do so until I am no longer needed/wanted here?

We appreciate it very much that you help TVmaze grow. You and your contributions are very welcome here, I see no reason why you should not be needed or wanted here :)

Let's have a beer!

cheers
