No word about season 5. The data here shows some of these next episodes in season 5, but the episode numbers seem correct for season 4. In any case, it should be made consistent.

The Daily Show is really weird. There is a version of the show for multiple different hosts, and then a current version that is just called "The Daily Show". It has always been the same show, the same format, just different hosts:

I am sure this was intentional here but I don't think the sorting into separate shows makes sense. It is inconsistent with other shows and it also breaks the ability for 3rd party software to track the show as a singular series. The numbering of episodes is also all over the place as a result.
I propose merging them all into one series.

The show premieres on NGC, so we have to follow their listing, but you are correct, something is not right, Season 8 seems to be season 7, I will look further into it today or tomorrow. :)
