Sea Change

LeonKennedy wrote 6 years ago: 1

I believe "Sea Change" was put in the TV-series section by mistake, because I checked it and IMDB says that it's a Drama Movie not a TV-series.

You can check it here:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5661770/

And if I'm wrong then I'm sorry.

Sites with press release information refers to it as a pilot.

One of several examples:

https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/sea-change-production-begins-lifetime-tv-pilot/

(And IMDb has a habit of labelling almost everything a movie.... even if it's a pilot or a mini-series.)

hmmm, this is difficult, the lifetime website has no mention about this going to series or being a pilot, they just list the movie with a summary and stuff, no episode guide or anything else.

The link to tvseriesfinale actually mention this is supposed to be a pilot.

This link says it is just a movie.

http://deadline.com/2017-lifetime-pilots/
This speaks again of a 2-hour pilot

Let us hear what the others think about it, we can always tell david or jan to remove it from the scheduled deletion.

From what I've read, back in 2016 it was going to be a pilot and then possibly a series afterwards, then it was changed into a 2 hour movie with no follow-up instead.

Everyone could list external third parties their article regarding this, but what does Lifetime's press release back then say about it? Now I am sure this (press release) has been deleted, so I am more lenient for a deletion, rather than leaving it as a series.

I am curious as to why press releases takes precedence over the current information on an official site in some cases, and evidently not in some. Shouldn't there be consistency?

For example, whenever there is a difference in opinion regarding an episodetitle or episodenumber, it doesn't matter how the official site lists it in the present, if there is an original press release that says otherwise.

In this case, the plans for a series or miniseries may or may not have been cancelled, but the original press release did, for a fact, refer to it as a pilot (three times, even):
LIFETIME STARTS PRODUCTION ON "SEA CHANGE," STARRING EMILY RUDD, SKYLER MAXON, KEENAN TRACEY AND MARIA DIZZIA

Drama Pilot Based on the YA Novel by New York Times Bestselling Author Aimee Friedman

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 7, 2016) - Lifetime, MarVista and Pillar/Segan begin production today on the pilot Sea Change (wt), a mystical drama that follows Miranda Merchant, a teen girl on a journey to reunite with her estranged mother who lives on a seemingly idyllic island off the coast of New England. Miranda quickly learns about small-town life when she finds herself caught between the town's residents and the island's mysterious legend of dangerous Seawalkers. Filming in Nova Scotia through August, Sea Change is based on the book of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Aimee Freidman.

After the death of her father, 17-year-old Miranda Merchant (newcomer, Emily Rudd) reluctantly arrives on the shores of Selkie Island to live with her estranged mother, Amelia (Maria Dizza, Orange is the New Black). As Miranda settles into island life, she finds herself torn between TJ (Keenan Tracey, Bates Motel), heir to one of the oldest Selkie families, and mysterious bad boy Leo (Skyler Maxon, Awkward) who is part of the working class "townies." When Miranda learns about the Seawalkers, who, according to local legend, are half human and half sea creature, she begins to believe that they could be real. As she uncovers more about her family's past, Miranda makes a startling discovery about her own connections to the Seawalkers.

Produced by MarVista Entertainment and Piller/Segan, Sea Change is Executive Produced by Fernando Szew (The Swap), Lloyd Segan (Greek), Shawn Piller (Greek), Sharon Bordas (A Deadly Adoption), David MacLeod (Haven) and Adam Fratto (Cleverman) . Chris Grismer (The Originals) is executive producing and directing the pilot script, written by Liz Sczudlo (The Following).
The link I posted is a press release. So it's not website taking priority over press release but newer press releases taking priority over an old press release.

This is correct, if a newer press release disregards the information of an older press release, we go with the newest and most up-to-date press release.

I got the pilot of sea change and the people at networks were told it was part of 12 pisodes series, but i couldn't find any info after watching it that it was picked up. And if that pilot is better than sirens (according to my friend who saw both), we are going to hurt a lot with mermaids shows for awhile.
