indeed, I think too that the shows pages are sorted by popularity on default.
so I guess for trending just visit here: http://www.tvmaze.com/shows
for latest shows that were recently added to the site head here: http://www.tvmaze.com/shows?Show%5Bsort%5D=5
and for coming soon, you can select the link posted by thomas and/or use the status filter to only display shows that are still in development. hope this helps ;)
There´s also a RSS feed for premium users called "Countdown to US shows" that list premiere dates for new shows and future season premiere dates.

Sorry to have taken so long to thank you for your reply to my query from 3 months ago. I hadn't noticed that I had any site notices and haven't really investigated all the sites features, such as the "countdown" category. (but I will now!) Nice to know that this site attracts such thoughtful & responsive members!

Hi Bungle! I'm a bit embarrassed to have taken so long to thank you for your thoughtful reply to a question I posted over 3 months ago. Honestly, I've hadn't noticed that I had any messages, and kind of ignored them when I did, until now. I won't be making that mistake in the future though. Hey Aiden! Thanks for the heads up! It's taken me 3 months to notice that I had any replies. Guess I've just been a kind of hit & run mode. Anyway, I really appreciate your taking the time to respond to my post. Glad to be a member on a site that has such thoughtful and responsive participants!!
