Stop using Guest Judge/Guest Host if thats not how they are credited

A number of shows continue to use "Guest" hosts and judges, however we are breaking policy referring to them as "Guest Judge" if that's not how the show is crediting them. An example of this is all the collective RuPaul shows, each show credits only Judges, and doesn't differentiate between the guest judges and the regualr judges. With the way the system is set up, if a guest judge is added the role type of guest stars tells us they are appearing in a guest capacity, irregardless of what the role is they are fulfilling.

I very rarely watch crappy reality shows, so wouldn't know how judges are being credited, but I can see where the confusion would arise.

As you mentioned the RuPaul shows, i'll go with this press release.. You can very clearly see, it refers to them as guest judges (Quote: we’re pleased to ru-veal details of three of the nine guest judges).

But on screen would take precedent meaning they should be added as Judge and not guest Judge :).

And its not just RuPaul, are Jeopardy crediting all Guest hosts as Guest hosts? Now different guest hosts have been made permanent, each person has 2 different characters which is fine if thats how the show is crediting them. But if they are just credited as host, thats how we should be crediting them too.

Jeopardy announced the guest hosts as such on their website, they have a news file on the site with the official list of guest hosts and when they would be hosting still online. I will have to go back to the earlier episodes to double check but I believe they were announced as guest host.

Following is a excerpt from one of the jeopardy news files on the official site:

4/21/21 - New guest hosts just announced! LeVar Burton, George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, David Faber and Joe Buck.

A series of guest hosts composed of award-winning journalists and distinguished figures are scheduled to fill in at the Jeopardy! host’s lectern this season. The big winner? Charity.

I will double check one of the episodes aired, but I do believe they were announced as guest host. They are no longer announcing guest hosts with the start of the current season and I have been entering in the hosts as such since it would be improper to do otherwise.

It doesnt matter how the website is listing them. If the credits call them just 'Host' thats how we should be crediting them too.

Would Johnny Gilbert announcing the person as a guest host at the start of the episode be considered official too? the ending credits of Jeopardy normally just list the production crew.

if he says in the show, that someone is a "guest host" that would trump everything as it is on screen :D

I thought that was the way it is but it never hurts to double check, I checked the guest host episodes I have on my  DVR and that's what was said. I do understand the issue as if it is not official, then a lot of unnecessary clutter will be caused as well as storage space for incorrect information.
