Dust Web Channel

What exactly is this channel, really? Is it the one with all the sci-fi short films?

If so, why was my request for DUST denied?

You requested a show for the channel the other day. A series of completely not linked short films on a streaming service does not make it a series unless that's how the shorts are announced. When dealing with the show request i could find no evidence of this.

Well, they're put in collections of short films as a series on their official site (watchdust.com and the same with ALTER (watchalter.com)). Weird how TVDB and TMDB have them both set as series but not TVMAZE.

Have you read any of the data policies for TVMaze?

We allow all TV shows from all over the world, in any language. Our definition of a TV show is something that has at least two episodes/parts in a serial format, i.e. the two episodes should correlate to each other, air on the same network, and have an overlap in plot/cast/crew.

A TV show that premieres on a broadcast TV network is (almost) always allowed. For shows that premiere on a web/streaming channel or on DVD, refer to the following section.

Explicitly allowed are:

Regular TV shows; with a season of two or more episodes

Shows in development that have the intention of releasing at least 2 episodes/parts

Shows that were cancelled immediately after the pilot has aired

Mini-series with at least two parts

Yearly returning award shows or televised events

Sports shows that belong to a single primary country and air on the same Network or Web Channel every time (Like WWE Friday Night Smackdown, World Series of Poker, Superbowl)

Explicitly not allowed are:

One-off documentaries

One-off made for TV movies

Shows where development is cancelled and the pilot episode was never aired/released

Sports events which are not tied to a single specific country, but are simultaneously aired in different countries. (Like FIFA World Cup, UEFA Cup, Formula 1 Racing, Tour de France, Wimbledon, Olympics)

Sports tournaments that premiere exclusively in a single country, but where the matches within a season/year don't always air on the same Network or Web Channel.

A grey area, consult the forums for a ruling:

Made for TV movies with at least two parts, airing on the same network, all with a common and continuous plot (like "Sharknado")

https://www.tvmaze.com/faq/13/shows

Tvdb also lists shows such as

https://thetvdb.com/series/channel-5-uk-documentaries

Which we would never allow. All they are doing is collecting one offs and adding them to one guide irregardless of how the network commissions the shows.

None of those really apply for DUST and ALTER, though. All the 'episodes' are on YouTube and their respective official websites. There are different collections and there are themes throughout them that in one way or another connects them through the theme and/or genre and by that I would say that DUST and ALTER should be applied here as a show, just under a so called 'grey area.' They are not just 'one offs' as you said.

After consulting with the other staff this isnt a grey area. The short films arent commissioned as an anthology. A collection of short films doesnt make a valid tv show by any means. Its not what im saying its the sites policy.
