Ghost Hunters merged entries?

thanson wrote a year ago: 1

Can someone review https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/59767/ghost-hunters and https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/585/ghost-hunters.  The show is actually back on Travel Channel now and listed as season 16 according to Xfinity.  Can someone consider merging the two entries since both seasons of the first link (Travel) are now listed as season 14 and 15 on the second link.  The gallery, channel, etc. appears to be correct on the first link though so maybe the second older link can reflect the new graphics and channel?

What about the previous press release?  The previous discussions?  Again - as happens so frequently, no time is put into what happened in the past using tools like Internet Archive and old press releases.  In this case - this very forum shows this discussion happening 2-3 years ago and at that time the press release was used to split it out. I have no vested interest in how this program is organized - but I do note that nearly every week a similar thing happens in revising old entries.  In this case - the press release issued approximately 3 years ago was used as the reason for splitting the two apart.  In trying to balance network revisionism - does a newer press release or listing cancel out the older one?

we only found a press release saying it is a new show, you got any link to the one you are referring to?

In this thread - the press release used at the time as well as the network listings were used as reasons why they needed to be split apart.

Again - I have no personal interest in this program.  It can be listed however people want to list it.  But I often see when revisions are done of previous entries, the current releases and sites are used as proof - when the important thing is how they looked at the time of airing/entry.  As network revisionist entries are often approved - should there be clarification on this point?  Does a later press release trump the earlier one?  The split was deemed accurate by staff 3 years ago based on the information at the time.  When listings get changed up, episodes redone, and new press is released .. does that cancel out the existing?  Perhaps the revisionism policy needs elaboration.  It is frequently overlooked when making changes on older entries.

Note - this is hardly just confined to this site.  Futon is good at picking up numbering based on current releases only -- which often means that conflicts with older entries.  I once found a show on Futon that had 4 different episodes given the same Season/Episode numbering due to revisions that were picked up going forward (on what appeared to be several occastions) while none of the previous entries had been altered.
