Shows without an "official source"

arrowoody wrote 11 months ago: 0

Good Afrernoon,

If there are shows without official sources, should we use whatever available information we can find from other sources (ie. iMDB, tvdb, etc.) when adding episode information? Would like to add episodes to Popeye the Sailor.

I'm sure others here may have better information to provide on this, but I believe sites such as IMDb or TheTVDB wouldn't be used in cases like this, as they are user-editable, and all the information on them can be changed by anyone. Some of those users may be like myself, trying to add correct information in along with links/edits to support the changed information, but unfortunately, not every user on these sites are like that.

One suggestion would be to look on something like Wikipedia- not specifically the Wikipedia article, though. I don't know how good they are for this specific show, but sometimes, using the references/sources used on a Wikipedia article may be helpful.

let me bring our cartoon specialist @TomSouthwell into this, what would we do in such a case?

I would suggest cross referencing sources to make sure your information is correct. If every unofficial source has the same information of course we could use that as we wouldn't expect a show from the 1950s to have a complete and official website to follow. You could also check out any home video releases for the series for episode summaries etc.

Thank you,

This is specifically what I was doing. I also went to wiki and looked at references like what @Magitroopa suggested and found more unofficial references. Will see what I can compile in coming days.

I just stumbled upon TV Maze recently, and I love it! Want to contribute where I can.

I was adding episodes for The Bugs Bunny Show, almost finished at least the ep titles and descriptions for season 1 and got the pending verification screen :(

I can clear you - however the bugs bunny cartoons have a credit screen in between each episode right? Each segment therefore should be its own episode and not three segments as one episode. All of this is covered in our data policies found at the bottom of every page:

If there is a break between the two parts, two separate episodes should be created. Examples of a break are credits or titles appearing on screen for a second time; or a voice-over introducing the second part.

If there are separate titles (even if the only distinction is "Part 1" versus "Part 2") for the two parts, two separate episodes should be created.

I read that. It's not really a credit screen, the black circle closes in then the next section starts. I was doing what was discussed earlier in this thread. There's really no official information for it, so I was comparing info from multiple unofficial sites. They all have it the way that I created it here.

If it's preferred, I can break them down separately?

Thank you.

Is there no title card at all or separation of the parts in the end credits?

Also reading the show summary - are these rebroadcast segments of other shows that had already aired - if so we wouldn't even have the show added here.

From everything I am able to find, they were initially broadcasted in 1960-1962 in black and white. Then rebroadcasted for the next couple of years, at some point being colorized. The rebroadcast mixed the episode order around but was the same thing.

Though nothing is from an official site, but a few unofficials have the same information.
