The full story

This is not a complaint or anything like that but I do sometimes wonder what tv shows would be like if at the original pitch the studio committed to showing the the whole story, nothing more and nothing less. Allowing actors, producers and the like to focus on the content, rather than trying to get renewed for another season. Maybe its my choice of tv shows, but there seems to be 2 main threads, one is great storyline - okay(ish) acting, the other great acting with mediocre storyline.  But the constant battle for ratings and the future of these shows always hanging in the balance its hard to enjoy either.

Or is it just me?

Completely agree with you on this!

It's not that hard to tell a complete story and then expand on it by exploring other timelines or focusing on different characters within the same universe. The real problem often arises when too many people get involved in the creative process, leading to inconsistency and loss of direction.
