Danger Man site

Hello.

It has been my intention to fill in all the Guest Cast for every episode as I watch them on my A&E dvd collection.  I started this about a year or so ago and am making progress.

However, I have never quite known all the rules regarding this.  What I do is record the information to this website exactly as it appears in the End Credits of each episode.

What I have discovered in these episodes on you site, when I go to fill in my information, is that other members have already filled in some information....and that information is not always what shows in the End Credits.  For instance, a characters name in the episode 'The Professionals' listed in the End Credits as Mrs. Pearson.....is listed on your site as Mrs. Joan Pearson.

My question is a point of technicality:  How much information is too much information?  Do you want me to just record the End Credits as shown and Edit this entry to just show it as Mrs. Pearson?.....or leave it as is showing it as Mrs. Joan Pearson?

Having said that, I have also noticed a few Guest Cast entries as I go along that will sometimes show an Uncredited entry.  I have asked in the past about this about what I should do in a case like this.  Uncredited cast probably came from IMDB.  I was told that IMDB entries are not allowed and certainly not Uncrediteds.   I must assume that Mrs. Joan Pearson may have come from IMDB (It is listed there as such).  Or else somebody watched the episode itself and entered the information in from memory.

Either way, what is the policy on recording information to television episodes and how should I proceed?  I want to enter the information in for 'The Professionals' before I forget to do so.

Thank you and I look forward to any replies.

It could be that in a later episode the person was credited more specifically or, as you say, someone familiar with the show knows the full character name, so I wouldn't jump to assuming that the information came from IMDB.  And if I were updating a show while watching it and saw someone who wasn't credited, I would add them.

In general you want to follow the credits
When you have multiple names, nicknames ,formal names, etc that differ from the credits you can add them as an AKA on the character page
In this case, doing minor corrections like adding a first or last name not in the credits but mentioned in the episode is fine

Uncredited entries are unfortunately often copied from IMDB, but not always. Either way, confirming those is always a good thing

It sounds like you have a good handle on it so just carry on and thanks again for helping out

Cheers

The standard approach is to stick with the end credits exactly as shown. Extra details like full names or uncredited roles usually aren’t accepted unless they appear on screen. If you notice an entry that doesn’t match the credits, it’s best to correct it back to what the episode lists.

Hello and thank you for the reply.  That's exactly what I do - fill it in exactly as shown at the end of the episode.

As I continue to fill in the Guest Stars, I started to notice other peoples contributions that included full names (where in the episode it would only show as, say Mr. Jones) as well as Uncrediteds.  I assumed this information was came from IMDB.

I was told pretty much what you told me about it isn't what this site wanted to convey.  However, this is the first time I've been told that I should erase other peoples information.

I did make such a correction about 3-4 episodes ago where I changed a full name to (say Mr. Jones).  But for the last few episodes I watched and entered information on, which had some Uncrediteds.....I left it alone and simply entered my information.  I would have to review all the episodes to find out which ones.

I'm not that good at navigating websites but I did notice something in the Edit of an episode and that was that it kept a record of who entered what and when.  If I could be better at understanding computers, maybe doing a quick search of my contributions would pull up all mine vs. someone elses.

So, do I have permission to erase and/or correct other peoples information for it to exactly match what is shown in the credits at the end of every episode?

I'm about halfway through the Danger Man series now.  I have given it some thought about what series I might want to tackle next and it might be The Avengers.  Stay tuned and thank you for the reply once again.

You are correct, the names in the credits must be used NOT the ones from IMDB.
