Add "Director" to Crew Type please

Most shows don't have a permanent director role and you don't want 100 directors listed as crew across a long series.  Add them as the director for episodes under Guest Crew.

Not to put words into their mouths, but this is something david and Jan normally won't have much of an opinion on. All things policy and things like crew types, genres and so on are normally handled by staff and is only implemented if there's a decent majority vote for it.

Series/Season Director is legit credit and the next time crew types are discussed it should be on the table.

That said, here's my personal take on it;

While there are people credited as season long directors from time to time, maybe especially on European shows and some non-scripted shows, it doesn't happen often enough to add a new crew type for it.

I also think it would be considered confusing to have 2 places to add the same information, especially for casual users.

This would also require some technical changes, both to the webpage and to the API as director gets special attention on both.

Thanks @Aidan Hat off for your answer!

They put 2 directors on Amazon (some great "workers"), but on the production site the crew is correct.

@Aidan Semi-related, how would one handle a 'co-director' credit? Working on this episode of Dirty Laundry, and listed in the credits is 'Director - David Cyr Kerns' and 'Co-Director - Paul Robalino'. As there is no co-director crew type, would both be considered directors and list both of them in the guest crew director field, or just include the main one that is simply listed as 'director' and do not include the 'co-director' whatsoever?

In the US, DGA approval is required to list someone as a co-director due to the "one director to a picture" principle, so it's very rare to see that type of credit.  My recommendation is to not include him unless the heads decide they want to add a co-director option.  Most likely it was Robalino getting experience before he started to direct episodes on his own.

I tend to agree here, given that I've already done a few season 4 (the following season) episodes, and he is indeed the director for seasons 4 and 5. So for the season 3 episodes with credits of Kerns as Director and Robalino as Co-Director, I should only list Kerns as Director, from what I'm understanding here?

Correct.  If the heads decide a co-director credit is worth adding, you can always go back and fix it in the future!
