Same character, different credited names.

Is it possible to have the same character credited differently in episodes where they are credited different. The policy says "there should always only be one entry for each unique character" but there are examples where a character ideally needs a different credit while still being the same entity:

* A character gets married and is then credited with a new surname (e.g. Phoebe in Goodnight Sweetheart, Phoebe Bamford to Phoebe Sparrow)
* Police officers and military personnel being promoted or demoted so are credited with a different rank (e.g. Jim Carver in The Bill, from P.C. Carver to D.C. Carver)

I appreciate this may have been discussed before or might be impossible to do, but just thought I'd check.

If not, do we ignore the rank for police officers and just use the officers name for their credit and then put their ranks in the character's AKA?

Thanks

We generally update the character's name and create an AKA.

I think we decided we dont include titles in a characters name and add them as akas but im tagging in @RoseRed our scripted expert for backup

List only the basic name (stripping any ranks, prefixes, etc), and add all full credited names as character AKA

Thanks all.

That's perfect. That's what I've been doing with The Bill, and will continue to do so.
