Language missing from the database

The ISO 639 standard is the basis for the list of languages on TVmaze. The majority of the languages that exist in ISO 639-1 are available here, but I skipped a few that seemed extremely unlikely to ever be used in a TV show.

If you think a language is missing and it exists in ISO 639-1, feel free to request it.

If you think a language is missing and it does not exist in ISO 639-1, it's unlikely that it will be added. We're no linguists, so we left the discussion about what constitutes a separate language to the experts that created ISO 639-1 :)

Concrete: according to ISO 639-1, Mandarin and Taiwanese are not separate languages but a variant of Chinese.

Clarified in the policy:

Only languages that exist in the ISO 639-1 standard are available on TVmaze. If a language is not available, ISO 639 most likely considers it a variant of another language instead of a separate entry. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_639_macrolanguage can be used as a reference in those cases. For example, Mandarin is considered part of Chinese, and shows in Mandarin should be listed as Chinese here.
