Online Air Date vs. Actualy Broadcast for a Broadcasted TV Show

sammy_hunt wrote 9 years ago: 1

This episode (http://www.tvmaze.com/episodes/523654/telenovela-1...) didn't actually air on television on the 7th, it was simply released early online. I think I am right in assuming that the official air date shouldn't change, since we go by first broadcast since it is a broadcasted show? I am going by my experience with the show The Expanse (http://www.tvmaze.com/shows/1825/the-expanse/episo...) which says its first episode hasn't aired yet even though it was released online like two weeks ago. Am I correct in this assumption and should I change the air date of the third episode back to what it was, or leave it as is?

As far as i know telenovela did air a special sneak preview on that day on NBC, like Superstore did.

Telenovela aired what it called a "preview" which was actually just episodes 1 and 2. It never aired the 3rd episode, but it was released early online on nbc.com. Source: http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/telenovela-nbc-r...

oh my mistake, you're talking about the 3rd episode.... Cause episode 1 and 2 did air on NBC. Yeah for that I would go with air date on NBC, but they have another policy here (which i'm not commenting on anymore).

Hmm.

Our policy is to use the premiere date, regardless of whether that was on broadcast TV or online. However, the source for airdates should be consistent within a season (see http://www.tvmaze.com/faq/15/episodes), so either all dates should follow NBC or all dates should follow NBC.com.

So if the early preview on NBC.com was a one time thing, we should ignore it and stick with the NBC airdates. Do that for now. However, if it turns out they're going to do this for every episode, we'll switch to the NBC.com airdates instead.

So far as I know it was just a one time thing. Official broadcast's not supposed to happen until January.
