Crappy posters from tvdb

blackcat2021 posted 3 years ago

Hi, please refrain from updloading crappy duplicate posters from tvdb.

I found a duplicate poster for https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/58584/the-center-seat-55-years-of-star-trek the first poster has a resolution of 2880x2160 pixels.

tvdb uses a very odd resolution 680x1000 pixels. To get that, they cut or strech the posters... and also the compression is very high so most of the posters look like crap (blurry)

I looked at your edits and deleted a lot of duplicates. Please avoid tvdb. And NO duplicates!

Is there some sort of standard size for posters?

Or at the very least a standard ratio that posters should have.

For my app, it looks far better to have a standard size across all posters when I display them.

I really don't care about the particular size or ratio, and simply went with that from TVDB.

I do like TVMaze far more, but the poster section in many cases have various poster sizes and ratios.

Any suggestion on how best to proceed?

BTW, I also made a couple of mistakes in choosing the wrong poster file, but there is no option to do a delete.

When I do make a mistake, then how does one do a delete?

There is no standard size, but usually I go for 1920x2880px, 1200x1600px or 960x1440px. There are also sizes like 2000x3000px, 2160x2880px (uncropped)

The nearest ratio is 2:3. (Uncropped are 3:4)

Only Trusted members+ can delete. If you made a mistake you can request for a delete in the Edit requests thread on the Forum: https://www.tvmaze.com/threads/2677/edit-requests?page=1035

In the future, I will be more careful in creating/choosing larger images and aiming for a 2:3 ratio.

OK thanks,
