He clearly kept on driving and he didn't starve, we don't have to hold the viewers hand all the time to know what's happening. The same goes for the ACD, do you really need to see him feed it, to know it has been fed?
Glad to hear that you speak for everybody but me! It's a TV show and there's no shortage of time. All those details are important. They show character and thought processes.

Interesting storyline so far. But here are some remarks on failures of the writers:
This was originally a British TV show. It is written by Charlie Brooker. He did a series of satirical weekly news reviw shows called weekly Wipes.
Netflix is an American organization, and sadly American humor/satire has to involve toilets, bathrooms and humiliation.
