Spy x Family episode numbers

MAT13 posted a month ago

Under episode #46 you added note say episode #43. What did you base that number on?

Spy x Family anime in original Japanese titles uses mission numbers for each small sub-story. More often than not, 2 or even 3 missions aka different stories can happen in a single episode, and in some cases single mission can stretch over many episodes.

I captured starting image of the Season 3 Episode 6 episode and you can see it starts with mission 43...

But if you go about counting episodes, that number almost never corresponds ;))

Hi!
I based it on the Crunchyroll numbering to avoid synchronization mistakes (I usually copy the summary and main image from there):

So this was really episode 43 on Crunchyroll? Did they group some episodes into one or what?

BTW, does that signify that there are no seasons if they treat that episode as episode 43?

For long-running single-season shows like Detective Conan or One Piece or Naruto that may work, but not sure this is needed for multi-season episodes. Or maybe we just need to merge SpyxFamily seasons into single season? I dunno how they mark it in Japan here, but counting each episode you can see it's episode 46, mission 43.

You're completely right, I feel silly now. Maybe I confused something in my head. Many episodes have 2 titles like "Title 1 / Title 2" and each sub-story starts with mission number which I thought changed, but now I'm not too sure. Also, my counting was wrong to begin with, dunno how I came up with 46, so just forget about everything and sorry for the trouble. I didn't think mission numbers correspond to episode numbers, but I'm no longer certain of anything, sorry.

Don't worry, not a problem at all!

Unfortunately I don't watch the show, so I have no idea about internal structure :(

Meitantei Conan

Hey, not sure it's wise to add Conan episodes ahead of schedule, they air in Japan on Saturday at 18:00 and after that you can see them on the official site where all the episodes are listed:

But you have to check if the episode has a number like #1167 as opposed to #R155. Every few weeks, they air re-run of an older episodes instead of a new one, so you probably cannot expect that next week will be next actual episode of if they'll re-run few old ones first.

You are right, won't do it.
Thanks for the information!

I was on vacation and far from my computer, so I couldn’t add anything for some time :)
I didn’t know about the notes — thanks!

Theatrical releases aren't acceptable here

MAT13 posted 7 months ago

Hi there, just in case you were unaware, this site doesn't accept specials (movies) that were initially theatrical releases (i.e. Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom), so those are always removed when spotted. This movie too was once removed already. Anyway, just wanted to let you know in case you weren't aware.

Kind regards!

MAT13 posted 7 months ago

I didn't know that at first either. But that is the reason why some movie specials that were TV releases are accepted while theatrical releases aren't. As the title implies, tvmaze is for tv stuff only. Though that changed with all the streaming services, so those movies are acceptable. So basically just movies made for theatrical releases are not accepted.

Not too long ago, OVAs weren't accepted either since they were directly VHS or DVD releases first, but now they are acceptable both as specials and as main content, like these:
- https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/73517/bastard
- https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/73257/oh-my-goddess

Maybe in the future that will change, but for now, all those Naruto, Meitantei Conan, One Piece and such theatrical releases are always removed when spotted.

Cheers!

Yes, I saw a lot of OVAs added before me, so I mistakenly assumed that all of them were okay.
