Ratings Roundup Week of May 21, 2017

The summer doldrums started as networks ran numerous specials and the beginnings of summer reruns last week. So wraps the 2016-2017 television season. Ratings Roundup will return in September.

The CW wrapped up most of their series' last week. The Flash led the superhero charge with Supergirl and Arrow a bit of a distant second. Reruns of Penn & Teller Fool Us managed to draw larger numbers than new episodes of Jane The Virgin, iZombie, and The 100; not good news for fans. While all three managed a renewal for Fall 2017, it's going to be harder for those productions to justify themselves to the networks next year.

Empire led the way for FOX last week as the finale for the series earned its highest numbers for the season. The network premiered two summer game shows, Beat Shazam and Love Connection, to good numbers. Making History came to a merciful end as its finale couldn't top reruns of other shows.
